Stumbled upon this new restaurant in WestEnd when I was looking for a place to pickup dinner for the family. The young man at the register was extremely helpful and patient. I wanted to sample a few things and get enough to serve family style at home. I ordered Ground Beef skewer platter with Rice, #4 Lame & Chicken combination skewer platter with Greek Salad, a Falafel House Bread (sandwich), and a Gyro Sandwich. I have asked to sample all three of their sauces (Cilantro Yogurt, Tzatziki and Harissa). Platter comes with either Rich or Salad or half of each. While I was at the counter, I have noticed the man in the kitchen was making the bread fresh. As soon as I sat down to wait for my order, an order gentleman brought out a basket of bread with Tzatziki sauce and butter. He saw me eyeing the fresh baked bread. I was so touched by the kind gesture. Will let you all know how was the food. Dinner was delicious! Everyone liked the food, portion was good too. The meat in Gyro was very tasty. Five stars for...
Read moreI REALLY want to like this place and wish I could review it a bit higher, but I was kind of disappointed if I'm being honest. We tried this place on the recommendation of friends. I ordered take out - simple and easy 3 gyro platters. All 3 had rice as the side dish. First issue was that we did not get the toppings for our gyros - no lettuce, tomatoes, onions. That of course didn't make me happy. Then our pita was crispy/crunchy, so that we really couldn't pick it up after we put the meat in so it turned into a knife and fork dinner. The meat did have good flavor, but without the toppings it was boring. There wasn't enough tzatziki sauce although it had a good taste. There was plenty of rice, but it was extremely bland. I love gyros and was really hoping to find a go to place, but sadly this just wasn't it. I really don't think it was worth the money I spent. It was definitely disappointing and I will keep looking for my...
Read moreMy experience at Zara Restaurant was definitely one of the worst I’ve had in Richmond, Virginia. Unfortunately, I can only describe it as one of the dirtiest restaurants I’ve ever visited. As for the food, it was worse than I could have imagined. The meats and poultry appeared old and not fresh, and their taste was downright disgusting. The fact that the restaurant serves food of such low quality is completely unacceptable. After eating just one meal there, I felt nauseated and regretted my decision to dine at this establishment. If you’re looking for a good dining experience in Richmond, I strongly advise you to avoid Zara Restaurant. It seems that this restaurant has no interest in providing a positive experience for its customers; on the contrary, it makes you feel that you have wasted your time and money. In short, if you want to maintain your health and well-being, look for better options...
