Twisted Cat Tavern — Restaurant in Virginia

Mixed thoughts here. I had a really good Mac-Rib, although it was too big to actually pick up. It was really tasty. My wife's Grilled Cheese and Tomato soup was good as well.

Unfortunately the appetizer was very meh (eggroll), it was incredibly loud. It's listed as a tavern, and the menu is fairly expensive, but it was as loud as a sports bar, with multiple games and people cheering for their teams. The menu and the atmosphere seem like they're at odds. It felt like a sports bar with a fancy menu.

There were three servers, and it was fairly busy, they were running around quite a bit. We had some issues catching their attention when we needed refills, and needed to pay. We both requested modifications to our food, and neither was completed (No tomatoes on the grilled cheese, no coleslaw on the Mac-Rib).

All of this being said, the food was really good, and we would consider going again... although maybe not on Friday night. Maybe things are a little calmer...

This was our first time dining at Twisted Cat Tavern. The place was full and noisy. Not a place to dine if you want don't like loud voices echoing off the walls. We enjoyed the St Patty's Day menu dishes (Guinness Stew and Reuben) and Onion Soup. My wife ordered the reuben and soup. She purposely ate half the reuben with the intention of bringing the other half ($9 cost) home. The waiter gave us a box for the 1/2 sandwich and along with the bill. Soon after leaving, my wife realized she left the take out container on the table. We drove back and found the container was thrown out. No apology. Nothing. We've left food at the table before at other resturants and gone far longer than the 5 to 10 minutes this time around and have always found the restaurant placed our food aside to give us the opportunity to return and pick it up. First time visiting. Was craving a good burger. Ordered the one with the Mac & cheese and fried egg. I don't recall the name.

WARNING: Do not order this burger if you are wearing something fancy.

Why? Because this burger is an absolute mess in the best possible way. The beef is beefy, the onion ring does its level best to contain the Mac& Cheese, but it will ultimately fail, and when the dam breaks...

Don't get me wrong, you will LOVE everything about this burger... The pork belly and egg bring it to a 10... But there is a good chance you'll wear some of it.

We started with the onion rings, other onion rings wish they were these.

Only criticism, too many high top tables, I'm not a fan, so I took a booth. Noticed a family with a young kid struggling to be comfortable. Ended up relocating when the few low tops opened up.

Went on a Saturday for lunch. I'm sure the dinner crowd may disagree... And...
