The quality of the fish, the care with which it is presented, and the creativity of the tastes is nothing short of superb. I'm frankly a little surprised to find this level of traditional sushi and sashimi in North county - land of the 50% off menu and the deep fried white boy rolls full of cream cheese and salsa (is that even sushi anymore?).
I was particularly impressed with the tenderness and taste of the less well known pieces such as octopus, gently charred squid, and mackerel. Seriously delicious.
Are they cheap? No. But they are not more expensive than warrented. You can taste the investment in the ingredients with every bite. If you are looking for cheap rolls stuffed with mayo and hot sauce that mask mediocre quality and subpar craftsmanship - you have many choices. But if you want real sushi served with traditional care and attention to detail - this is one of the handful of restaurants that deliver.
And this was all delivery, I haven't even been to the restaurant itself. But I certainly plan on visiting soon. Bravo...
Read moreI was happy to discover a nearby place for ramen, bento boxes, and sushi. I look forward to exploring the menu more next time. My wife and I stopped by about 5:30 on a Sunday night. The place was about half full, with plenty of seating available, very nice wait staff. My wife had the shrimp ramen and I had the spicy chicken ramen. My ramen was good, though it could have been a little spicier for my taste. My wife's shrimp ramen was very salty. The more she ate, the less she liked it. The salt was overpowering everything else in the bowl. So 5 stars for mine, 3 for hers, for an average of 4 stars. We will be back but not for the shrimp ramen. Our next stop here was around noon for Bento Boxes. She had salmon and I had chicken. Everything in both of the boxes was excellent! Soup, salad, 4 California rolls, tempura, rice, and the meat. This is a lot of meal and, at $15 or $16, well worth the price. I am changing my review to 5 stars, based...
Read moreSushi was 5/5, noodles and ramen were 3/5, combined rating was 4/5.
We had the Rock n Roll, tankotsu ramen, and garlic noodles. The sushi was excellent, and much larger than we were thinking it would be, and I'd highly recommend it. We had another roll but I don't remember the name, but it was also excellent, and the wonton appetizers were great too.
The ramen on the other hand was disappointing, and had extremely bland noodles and broth (though the pork itself had good flavor), and the egg was over boiled to the point of crumbling when I tried to pick it up with chop sticks. The garlic noodles were okay, but very overwhelming garlic to the point where we couldn't finish.
Prices were a bit high, at around $16-24 per sushi roll, the ramen was $15, and the garlic noodles I believe were a bit under $10, our total price was about $100 after tip. All in all this is a place I would return to...
