My daughter and I went here today, midweek for breakfast/lunch. It was busy but not too busy- we were seated right away. Service was fantastic. Our server was really nice and made sure to check on us, but wasn’t invasive and anticipated/offered things before we even thought to ask- water, extra napkins, takeout boxes including little containers for the dressing, and even put the rest of our sodas in to-go cups for us.
The restaurant itself was super clean with no funky bathroom or grease trap smells!
Also, I love a really good Coke and theirs was great, as good as a McDonald’s Coke in a really big cup with plenty of ice.
The menu has plenty of good stuff on it- not too big like some restaurants where you wonder how they can execute that many items while maintaining freshness.
They also have really creative sounding espresso drinks which is a plus for me for sure- sometimes I’ll skip certain places for breakfast because I really want a latte and they don’t have that. I’m definitely going to come back and try one.
My daughter got fried chicken and a waffle- the fried chicken (breast, leg, thigh, wing) was amazing, fresh, flavorful with crunchy batter and moist meat and the waffle was really good too.
I got a club sandwich on sourdough and fries. The sandwich had all fresh ingredients and was huge, and the fries were the type with a little batter on the outside which I really like. The ranch was good too, definitely didn’t taste bottled. My only gripe about the sandwich, which is personal preference and not a quality issue, is the turkey is thick sliced lunchmeat and I prefer the thinner slice to take some of that lunchmeat texture away.
We loved it here and were impressed that everything was clearly made to order and with care. We’ll be...
Read moreReview #2 Today is Sunday January 29th, 2023. After my gym workout I went to the Silverback Cafe for breakfast. I was attended to immediately and sat at the bar. The young man at the bar was very attentive and he was funny we spoke about their food and he mentioned that they make their ham and turkey on site including their corned beef hash. Now let me tell you something about the corned beef hash.. IT IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE BEST CORNED BEEF HASH IN SAN DIEGO!! If you are looking for canned corned beef hash.. you will not find it here!! This place cooks actual corned beef brisket on site and makes their own corned beef hash. It is soooooo good! Today I had the corned beef hash eggs Benedict and everything that I ate was very flavorful, fresh, and delicious! This is definitely a hidden gem in Vista. I will most definitely be back to enjoy the rest of their menu!
Review #1 Today I had breakfast from the Silverback Breakfast and Cafe and let me tell you... IT WAS AMAZING!! 🥰 Their corned beef hash is made with corned beef that they cook, it was so good!! You do not find breakfast spots that take the time to cook their own corned beef to make corned beef hash anymore but this place does!! The tender, juicy, flavorful pieces of corned beef that was in the hash was really delicious!! I've been looking for this type of corned beef hash at restaurants for a long time, and I finally found it here!! (To the owners and cook do not change that recipe!!) They're sirloin patty was cooked to perfection, the scrambled eggs with cheese on top was cooked to perfection and the home fries were really delicious!! I will definitely eat here again and let my family and friends know about this...
Read moreWe decided to try a new breakfast spot and were seated quickly—probably because it was a Friday morning and most people were at work. I ordered their “signature” French toast and chicken, but as soon as I took a bite, I knew something was off. I flipped the toast over and saw that the entire back side was burnt to a crisp.
I let the waitress know and told her I didn’t want a replacement—I’d just finish my coffee and eat the parts of my meal that weren’t burnt. She said she’d take a couple of bucks off the check, which seemed fair. Cool.
A few minutes later, she came back and said, “Instead of taking money off, I’m just going to have the chef remake a small piece for you to take to go.” I told her no—I didn’t want that. Just bring the check. But she insisted, saying the chef was already making it. At that point, I had to be a little more direct: “There’s no need to remake it, I told you that. Please just bring the check so we can leave.”
After all that, she ended up taking $3.00 off the meal. Honestly, I’d still give this place another shot. I just hope the waitress understands that no one wants to drive around with a single piece of toast in their car. It’s nothing personal—it was just completely unnecessary, especially after I had already said no. Yes I left a tip. I’m...
