Suma's Kitchen: Spice-less Slog, Undercooked Ugh, and Bribery in a Biryani? No, Thanks! My quest for fiery flavors and fragrant feasts led me to Suma's Kitchen, lured by promises of "authentic Indian cuisine." What I found, however, was a symphony of disappointments conducted by a baton of blandness and topped off with a sour note of rudeness. Let's start with the "famous" chicken 65. The only thing it had going for it was the fiery hue, resembling a sunset tinged with regret. Each bite was a bland betrayal, a sad whisper of spice where a flamenco of flavor should have danced. It was like someone dipped rubber bands in turmeric and called it chicken – chewy, tasteless, and utterly forgettable. Then came the chicken biryani, the supposed crown jewel of the meal. Alas, the jewel was cracked, the chicken undercooked and pink in the center. Upon politely mentioning this culinary faux pas to the waiter, I was met with a nonchalant shrug and a curt "That's how we cook it here." I guess salmonella is Suma's secret ingredient? Now, I understand mistakes happen. But Suma's response was less "mea culpa" and more "meh, whatever." The only silver lining was their attempt to bandage the blandness with a half-priced biryani bill. My wallet appreciated the gesture, but my dignity did not. I insisted on paying full price, hoping it would light a fire, perhaps not in the chicken, but in their service. But wait, there's more! As if the bland bird and the rosy-hued rebellion weren't enough, Suma's Kitchen decided to offer dessert as a sugary peace offering. A slice of cake, presumably to mask the taste of disappointment. I politely declined, preferring to leave with my palate untainted by artificial sweetness and my pride intact. In conclusion, Suma's Kitchen was a culinary catastrophe. Bland food, undercooked chicken, and dismissive service – a trifecta of tastelessness that wouldn't be redeemed by a truckload of complimentary cake. If you're looking for an authentic Indian experience, steer clear of Suma's Kitchen. It's a bland Bollywood remake gone terribly wrong, leaving you with a bad taste in your mouth and a yearning for the real thing. Spicy Rating: ️ 0 Out of 10 (And even that's being generous) Would I Recommend? Not even to someone who enjoys chewing rubber bands dipped in turmeric. Post-Meal Regret: Deep and lasting. Save yourself the disappointment and the salmonella scare, find your fiery feast elsewhere. Suma's Kitchen is best left to the ghosts of bland birds and undercooked dreams. I don't know that the others had same experience or not. we are very much disappointed.

Before I begin this review, I am not a friend of this owner, nor a family member. I'm very critical when it comes to restaurants and the following rating is my own personal experience. This is a small hole in the wall restaurant. Does the food come out in no time? No, because they make it fresh. My wife and I came here last week. I ordered the chicken Tikka and my wife ordered the cholay and bhatooray. Unlike other restaurants, the first thing Suma asked, is if we want the food to come together or cholay first. A lot of joints don't do this. It's annoying when you have your appetizers and entrees come at the same time. Suma gets cool points for that. Tikka came out sizzling, meat almost falling off the bone. When moms used to make this, it used to be red. Suma explains same flavor but doesn't do food coloring. I can respect that, and to be honest, one bite said it all. Tasted just like mom's Tikka when I was a wee little boy. Wife's cholay was amazing. I'm more of a meat eater but it was so good, I was contemplating on getting my own. Not over oily like Nani used to make w the oil dripping like an auto oil change- no Sumas dish was just right. Easy on the oil, fresh on the taste. Last but not least the dessert. Let me start out by saying this...No one really gets Faluda right. I've lived in Houston for years and know good desi food. Sumas faluda hit harder than an unpaid electric bill! Just like home, I'm serious! It was like getting it from the push carts in Karachi! Last, the most respected aspect any restaurant owner could do...Suma came herself with a note and pad and asked if there was anything she could do to make the food better. I have NEVER seen a restaurant owner do that EVER! Suma really cares about her customers and I pray her restaurant does extremely well. AMEEN!!! PS another cool point. Know how you get meat dishes and they only give you a spoon of raita? This girl has a whole bottle of it. This is good to know for my people who love raita. My wife and I finally found our spot 😀

I'm usually one to find the good in any dining experience, but my recent visit to Suma's kitchen was such a letdown that I feel compelled to share my disappointment.

I specifically ordered a spicy three-course meal, hoping to tantalize my taste buds with some fiery Indian flavors. My order included:

Chicken 65: This dish, typically a vibrant explosion of spice and tang, arrived worryingly pale and bland. Each bite was a symphony of...nothing. No spice, no salt, no hint of the promised flavor. It was like chewing on a piece of unseasoned chicken with a vague notion of what it could have been.

Chicken Curry: Here, I encountered a glimmer of hope. The curry itself had a decent depth of flavor, but it was woefully shy on the heat I craved. It was a far cry from the inferno I was expecting.

Chicken Biryani: This, the supposed pièce de résistance, was the ultimate downfall. The chicken, the star of the show, was shockingly raw in the center. When I politely pointed this out to the waiter, expecting a prompt and apologetic resolution, I was met with a shrug and a mumbled assurance that "this is how we cook it here."

Needless to say, my meal was a major miss. The food was lackluster, the service indifferent, and the overall experience deeply frustrating.

If you're looking for a vibrant and authentic Indian dining experience, I'd strongly advise steering clear of Suma's kitchen. My taste buds, and my spirit, are still reeling from the disappointment.

Here's a quick breakdown of my ratings:

Food: 1/5 (Bland, undercooked, and utterly forgettable) Service: 0/5 (Indifferent and dismissive) Ambiance: 3/5 (Pleasant enough, but nothing special) Price: 2/5 (Overpriced for the abysmal quality) Overall, I would not recommend [Restaurant Name] to anyone seeking a satisfying and flavorful Indian meal. There are countless other restaurants out there that can deliver on the promise of bold spices and culinary delight. Do yourself a favor and skip this one.

To add insult to injury, when we politely objected to paying full price for the uncooked biryani, the waiter, with a patronizing grin, offered it at "half price" as a "favor." As if we were somehow indebted for receiving an unsafe, inedible dish. When we rightfully declined even that "generous" offer, the attempt to placate us reached new heights of absurdity. We were offered...a slice of cake. As if a sugary treat could possibly compensate for the culinary and service nightmare we just endured. They prioritize profit over basic food safety and customer satisfaction. Don't let their insincere apologies and pathetic bribes fool you. Your taste buds, and your wallet,...

Title: A Taste of Heaven: A Delightful Experience at Suma’s Kitchen

Rating: ★★★★★ (5/5)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Suma’s, a halal restaurant that truly exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I stepped through its doors, I was greeted with warmth and a welcoming ambiance that immediately set the tone for a memorable dining experience.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the food! Every dish that graced our table was a masterpiece in itself. The menu showcased a diverse range of halal delicacies from various regions, each prepared with precision and authentic flavors. Whether it was the succulent kebabs, the aromatic biryanis, or the delectable curries, every bite was a revelation of taste and richness.

One standout dish was their signature Charga, which instantly won our hearts with its harmonious blend of spices and tender meat, leaving us craving for more. The portions were generous, ensuring that we left with contented stomachs and yet still desiring to explore further from their menu on our next visit.

The staff deserves a special mention. They were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous throughout our meal. They readily answered our questions, provided insightful recommendations, and made us feel like valued guests. Their dedication to excellent service undoubtedly enhanced our overall dining experience.

As a fan of delightful desserts, I was thrilled to find a variety of halal sweet treats on the menu. From the classic baklava to the innovative fusion desserts, the sweet offerings were a perfect ending to our meal and left us with a sweet aftertaste that lingered long after we left.

Moreover, the restaurant's commitment to halal practices and ethical sourcing of ingredients gave us the confidence that we were supporting a business that aligned with our values.

In conclusion, Suma’s offers more than just a meal; it provides an immersive gastronomic journey that celebrates halal cuisine in all its glory. With its impeccable food, welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service, this restaurant has secured a special place in my heart. I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience filled with halal flavors that will leave you craving for more.

I am already looking forward to...
