Denny's — Restaurant in Waco

Oh where to begin?

I've always liked Denny's atmosphere, food and service. I used to frequent their establishments when I worked at a local bar as a karaoke DJ. So tonight, my wife and I decided we would enjoy ourselves at the Flying J location. That's where the positivity ends.

Upon arrival, we were not greeted with a host, an empty podium stared at us for roughly 10 minutes. After we were seated, our server was prompt in taking our drink orders before letting us know he was stepping outside to smoke.

Once he returned we placed our food orders and began noticing practically everyone was sitting at tables with only drinks and nothing else. After around 30 minutes I called our waiter to our table to try and determine what was going on. Apparently, dine in orders do not take precedent to online orders so we were thrust into the unknowingly long que. After waiting again...our server informed us the wait would be 20 more minutes and our food had been 'on the list for 35 minutes...25 minutes after we placed our order. He informed us of the terrible practice of order priority and to top it off...a table that had arrived 20 minutes after we had received their food! At this point I was done...asked for a manager and instead received a simple "You're good" from the server.

Service - 1/10 Atmosphere - 1/10 Food - 0/10

Please don't waste your time here...there are plenty of other locations in Waco that actually believe in taking care of...

This place is horrible, the server was playing around in the bathroom while I stood and waited to be seated. Finally once he made me choose the booth he brought me a drink, it tasted like chlorine, I ordered my food, he laughed, I asked what's funny, he said the picture of the food I ordered, then he was across the restaurant putting in the order and yelled out to me how I wanted my eggs. Mind you this place was not busy at all. Then he disappeared, another server brought out the food she acted very strange, I ordered a skillet which is very hot , she grabbed the skillet handle and just held on to it , me I'm thinking it must not be very hot , lol I was wrong , I asked the other server do all of their beverages taste like chlorine and she said not to her. I asked for a water, she bought it out and made sure I tried some in front of her , it tasted like dirt. I decided to just take my food out. I went in to give them another shot today and stood at the front while the same young man sat and played tiddily winks with a young female , so I sat myself at the bar, waited about ten minutes and finally the same server that helped me last night showed up and was very polite, I asked about a dessert and she said they no longer have it, so I wasted 10 more minutes of my life here. While I was sitting, I noticed they had a can of cat food and a zipper bag with what appeared to be dry cat food in a shelf where it clearly...

We waited over a hour and half for our food. We order the nachos as an app came a hour later with just the meat sauce and cheese. None of the other toppings were on it and we received a full order when we ordered a half order. Sent back to kitchen and they brought the same order out and said that they ran out of the other toppings. Their truck hadn't arrived yet. Sent them back again and no longer wanted them. When our food finally arrived my husband didn't get the seasoned fries like he ordered, his philly cheesesteak omelet didn't have any of the veggies just meat and cheese. His hash browns were burnt and greasy enough for a heart attack. The mac and cheese I received was just the plain cheddar kind not the white cheddar mac that is in the menu and the one I wanted. I wished we were informed of the shortage of toppings and mac and cheese alternative so that we all could have not wasted time or ordered food that we would not want. If a restuarant does not have everything please inform the customer so that we can choose something else or just not order it. It would have saved us from such an horrible experience. Ultimately the manager, though rudely, did not charge for the nachos or mac. The only great thing was the drinks. My trucker husband and I will not be dining at this Denny's( I-35 exit 331, Waco, TX) ever again. It's the first and last. We will choose somewhere else when we pass...
