In this review, I am not going to talk about Main Event specifically. I would talk about Family Kitchen. A restaurant located within MainEvent. A style very similar to Applebee's, Chili's, etc.
A restaurant that had been recommended to me a long time ago. But I think the wait didn't pay off and just stopped being good. If it ever was.
I arrived with high expectations since the recommendation comes from a great friend who knows that I will rate the place and the food. When we arrived, they sat us down and asked us if we were ready to order, and since it is our first time, we asked for time to look at the menu. 5 minutes passed when the waitress came to pick up the order for the appetizer. We ordered the appetizer, and it arrived practically quickly.
While we asked for more time to see what we could eat. 7 minutes passed before Amber, who apparently was the only one who cared about our comfort, asked us if we had ordered yet. We said no, and she left, apparently looking for our waitress. Our waitress arrived, took our order, and it took 9 more minutes for them to deliver our order. After Amber asked again if they had already given us our food or an update on our food. We said no, and after apologizing, she left, and our food came out.
And they can't say that they were busy, because we went around 3-4 pm and we were literally the only ones in the restaurants. With 5 employees at the bar talking and cutting lemons. And 3 other employees at the entrance just having a beautiful conversation.
But we came to talk about the food, not the employees. So we ordered several things to try from the menu. We ordered loaded fries, a chicken sandwich, Dish Dip Pizza, Oreo cheesecake, and a Piña Colada. And if I tell you that I was disappointed, I think it's an understatement.
The Loaded Fries were super delicious. The combination of crispy bacon with fresh green onion blew my mind. Until my pina colada arrived. I'm from Puerto Rico, the place where the piña colada was invented, in case you didn't know, and seeing it on the menu made me excited. But what a way to destroy a work of art like the piña colada. It was too strong, with a strange flavor that I couldn't describe. As if they had poured a bottle of alcohol into a glass, with a little pineapple juice, and then poured toilet water into it. Literally! I couldn't finish it, and I like to drink, but brother.
The chicken sandwich, the chicken was juicy, well cooked. But without any flavor. They only added a drop of sauce, which rested in the middle of the chicken, like Tom Hanks in Cast Away in the middle of the ocean. The pizza, the lack of cheese, made the experience resemble cooking a frozen Dish Dip pizza from the supermarket. And I don't know how they destroy the cheesecake. I really have no idea how an Oreo cheesecake only tasted like Oreo with milk.
A special shout out to Amber. It's really the only one I took away from the rest. Her concern for us and her professionalism led me to give this place 3 stars... But otherwise, this place would have a terrible review on my end. And it is not cheap. It is a place where you can spend a lot of time having fun. And selling mediocre food because you know parents have no other option is sad. Hope this place changes for good, because I really enjoyed my time...
Read moreReposting since they deleted other review. I emailed corporate and did my brother we never received a response. They obviously want to hide this: Pure discrimination, rude and mean employees and they stereotyped me. I bought the Monday madness activity deal with bowling included. The WAIT TIME SAID 0 MINUTES! The kiosk asked me did i want bowling I pressed yes. I selected 2 adults and selected both shoe sizes, added my name and his and checked out and the total said $37. No receipt printed but the wrist bands did. We go to the counter for bowling and they say our names aren’t on there and he didn’t say anything else to us he just looked at us. The only nice man was a black young man with dreads. He asked what was wrong and He walked us to our kiosk and printed out the receipt and greeted us and apologized. We go back to counter and the young man who we talked to us previously was there with an army behind him waiting for me. I’m a supervisor myself so i know what it means when all workers stand behind another when they think there is a “problem customer / stereotypical angry black woman “ Immediately when I give the receipt the young man tells someone in his army that there’s a problem. Then he tells him we didn’t pay for bowling then i said yes I selected yes when it asked for bowling and selected two adults. He then said well you didn’t pay for shoes. I said yes I did the machine charged $31 and the shoes were $4.50 a piece I even added both shoe sizes so how did that not go through. He said yes they normally are $4.50 but you didn’t get that. So I’m confused because your machine messed up and I clicked everything correctly and now I’m blamed that there was an error with technology. He said they would cover the shoes after blaming me for their error. Then they asked for our names and phone number and said i didn’t put that in the machine when I did. So it’s not my fault . He was acting scared and shaking putting my phone number in and he asked me to repeat it 5 times because I guess he was scared i was going to yell at him. I was calm the whole time. I did not yell or argue back but apparently I’m scary. Then they said it would be 30-40mins wait when the machine said 0 so now it has been an hour wait instead. The text we received for the wait time was at 7:35 and we didn’t get seated for bowling until 8:40. Then we get seated and no one brings our shoes. Then a group of 6 Hispanic men who are same race as the worker came and got their shoes immediately while we are still sitting waiting. I then asked why didn’t we get our shoes yet when we were there first. Then he said oh I forgot and went to get the shoes. At this point I’m frustrated and have been treated poorly and discriminated against. They were so mean expect for the bartender with dreads. They gained up on me and blamed me for technology’s error. I did speak to manager and got a refund but the whole situation made me so sad because I was stereotyped it made me cry and made my already bad day even worse. There is a disparity of treatment when it comes to...

First impressions: When you walk in the door All of the games are right in front of you. The room is charged from all of the electronics so it gives the impression that this place is going to be fun. To the left is the prize store, to the right is the bar and restaurant. Directly in front of you are the machines where you buy the credits or your card for the games. As you move past those you're into the game room itself. Slightly to the left is the skyline. If you move a little further back you come to the bowling alley directly in front of you, with bathrooms to the left, and a concession stand to the right. All in all the place is laid out very well. Very large bathrooms for men and women, with a bonus handicapped private bathroom with a baby changing table. It's a good place to step into if you need to calm the baby change the baby or just have a little peace and quiet, which comes to my second impression...
This place is really loud. When I say loud, I mean LOUD. If you're with someone who gets easily overstimulated, this is not the place for them. I have ADHD and I was feeling it almost immediately after walking it. Sensory overload is going to happen, no doubt. The games are fun though, and there's lots of different ones. It's similar to Urban Air, Peter Piper or Chuck E. Cheese in play. You play games, and win tickets. Then you exchange them at the end of your stay for prizes. Bowling sessions are a little expensive as well. For the VIP it's $50 plus shoe rental is $5.00 per person. For a family of five that's $75 for an hour.
My third impression is the food prices. The food is typical American cuisine like pizza and wings, and it is all totally overpriced. For a family of five, you will probably not eat for less than $100. There are packages that you can get, or bundles, but with the addition of drinks and desserts you're looking at at least a hundred bucks. The first thing I bought was a large cherry Icee and paid almost $5 for it. To be exact, $4.86.
So, all in all this is a fun place, but if you're going for the full experience then your wallet is not gonna think it's fun. 😅 It's a fun place for adults or dates, but for a whole family, it's going to be pricey, and that always dampens the fun.
I deducted 2 stars for the food prices and expensive bowling sessions, so my final review is...
