Our group of seven, all middle-aged professionals and business owners, visited Sloan’s last night, expecting an enjoyable evening. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but. We spent nearly four hours at the establishment, ordering drinks at a reasonable pace. Among us, three gentlemen each consumed six one-ounce pours of whiskey over that period—less than two ounces per hour. I personally had one and a half drinks but couldn’t finish the second due to the excessive sweetness. Two others in our party had two drinks each, while one gentleman refrained from drinking entirely. Despite our responsible consumption, we were unexpectedly “cut off” by our server, who claimed to feel that we had consumed too much. When we requested clarification from the owner, we were met with immediate defensiveness. The owner stated that she trusts her server’s judgment, although the server appeared inexperienced and was unable to answer questions about their own drink menu. Additionally, the owner cited that we were “too loud” and that she could hear us from the restroom. Given the venue’s size and the loud music, we struggled to converse without raising our voices. We expected a lively bar atmosphere, not a library-like setting. Overall, the service was disappointing, the drinks were excessively sugary, and the management’s handling of patrons seemed questionable. Review of Sloane’s Cute Chic Bar in Waco, Texas

I recently had the best time at Sloane’s cute chic and quaint bar in Waco, Texas! It was the perfect spot for a chill weekend away from the craziness of Houston, and meeting Lauren, the owner, made it even better. She was so friendly and we had the best conversation.

Lauren’s hospitality was amazing and added so much to my experience. I got to create my own flight of drinks, and let me tell you, they were fantastic! The Strawberry Fields, Bees Knees, and Lemon Old Fashioned were my favorites.

And guess what? Sloane’s is right next to The Harvest, where I had the most incredible chicken tacos ever. Seriously, they’re a must-try!

While the atmosphere was unique with a vintage edge, the service was poor and unfriendly. My friends and I came to celebrate our one friend’s birthday, and were taking our time looking at the menu and chatting. The manager and bartender hovered and approached us every 2 minutes asking us to order, which made us all feel very pressured. The manager then came over and asked us to leave in an extremely hostile manner. This was humiliating, as it caused the entire place to go quiet and everyone to look at us.
