Three stars for now, but to be clear, we WILL be returning to try more menu items and give them a chance to redeem themselves.
Okay, so now that that's out of the way, the reason for the three stars.
When we walked in, the atmosphere was delightful. The place was a little small compared to the outside, although it does share the complex with two other buildings. I suppose the meeting room takes up a lot of space. Okay. When we arrived, the guy at the register was friendly and offered recommendations, but as soon as we went to sit down, he looked bored and miserable. They were out of quiche for the day but I let this slide on the account that we DID visit at 1 PM, after the normal brunch rush dies down. I ordered the pick two combo, but to my disappointment, they were out of grilled asparagus, so I ordered a half salmon sandwich and grilled artichokes. My dad got the Turkey Chipotle sandwich with a side of the sea salt fries. We ordered a chicken martina sandwich to-go for my sister.
Food came out rather quickly, but what came was slightly disappointing. The ratio of bun-to-fish on my sandwich was slightly off, in my opinion. There was a lot more bun than fish. It was stated on the menu that the bun would be wheat, but it didn't say honey-wheat. The bun was too sweet for me so I just took my salmon off of it to eat it with a fork. The grilled artichokes weren't fresh from whole artichokes, they were the marinated hearts that come in jars. I happen to love those, but I didn't love the fact that there was salt added to them on top of the salt that the artichokes come in. The added salt gave me a small stomach ache afterwards, not the fault of the café. Props to them for cooking the salmon flawlessly, though. A lot of places don't do that.
My dad said that the sea-salt fries weren't salty enough, and he said that he could hardly taste his chipotle mayo, and he even tried dunking his fries into it. He did appreciate the fact that the sandwich came with a side of pickles, though. He loves pickles. He also thought that the avocado was a bit soggy at the bottom of the sandwich. The turkey sandwich was average for him.

Read moreDrove through Waco from Dallas to Austin and stopped for lunch since this place had good reviews. We got a Chicken pesto sandwich, a BLT, two side soups (tomato and cheddar broccoli) and fries (I would drink that aioli dip it’s so good) to share— with 2 soda foundation drinks (Coke products) under $50.
Food was simple but incredibly delicious that had great flavors that tasted like home. This is comfort food with decent prices.
I’m a little picky about my sandwiches, but let me tell you that these were one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. I’m sad that I live 2 hours away, but it’s tempting to drive back anyway. Those Baylor U kids are lucky to have it so close to campus.
Guy at the register was chill and brought our food to the table. Inside has two sides, one with AC and one without if you rather have hot kitchen vibes. Great college cafe with quirky decor and...
Read moreThe food was bland and pricey for the type of food being served. They take advantage that is near Baylor University, and relying on students being hungry and not willing to cook. I paid $9.00 for a half chicken club sandwich with no seasoning, and no sides, it didn't even include chips. The only sort of flavor it had was from the honey mustard, which wasn't enough to be worth $9.00. The place is more of a short order kitchen, and my initial opinion was that since it looked like mom's and pop's kind of place the food would be good, I was wrong. I think it is a shame that they cant provide the customer with good quality food, and hospitality Texans are know for. For dine in, the food is served on paper food containers like the one you see at fairs of stadiums, with disposable plastic cutlery, so that says...
