The kids and I came here with friends. We didn't even have time to see the whole museum, but what we saw was great. The kids enjoyed the computer games in each room and had a great time exploring. We saw the Eric Carle display (more geared toward little ones), the mammoth replica, a giant whale skull, a cave replica, a woodland area, and some different types of homes before heading outside to the historic village.
The village was truly excellent for kids, with lots of interactive opportunities. They took turns pumping water and trying to carry it on a yolk; they rang the church bell, played the piano, and gave sermons; they ground coffee and played checkers at the commissary; they tried rolling hoops, ring toss, and lawn bowling; and they attempted household chores with the butter churn, wringer washer, and clothesline. And of course they thought the (non functional) outhouse was hilarious.
We spent two hours roaming around without ever getting to the museum's upstairs. As a bonus, all the kids got in free because they had just earned Jr. Ranger badges at the mammoth site. Even without that, the price is reasonable and the parking is free. Our crew ranged from K-4th grade, and all had a good time. Definitely a...
Read moreWent here for a kids stem convention. We walked around and looked at all the things. They gave us a little stamp sheet to get from all of the booths around the museum. So we did lots of stuff like figure out what fingerprints we have, looked at some bugs and some pond water. That a lot of activities and things to do. Lots of the boost for giving out free stuff like stickers which I was very interested in. There's also like a Scooby-Doo exhibit room, which was neat. There was drones, VR headsets, and lots of little like remote control cars and sphere robots. I believe that most of this stuff was just there for this specific convention. But I think that you should follow this convention on social media and other stuff like that so you can see what upcoming events that they have going on. They also had lots of cool exhibits at the museum itself, like a bubble room. They had lots of different bubble contraptions like a bubble wall and being able to trap yourself in a bubble. They had some live snakes that were in aquariums that you could look at. They had a giant train set which was very cool. All in all, definitely recommend very cool place, and very cheap...
