My wife and I have been wanting to check out Toasted Yolk. Seemed very promising, we've been excited to go check it out, and finally went this morning.
My wife went in ahead of me because I was on the phone and got a table. When I got in I had ample time to study the menu before the waitress came by, so I ordered my drink and we went ahead and ordered our food. I could barely hear the waitress talk and in retrospect it seemed like she had no desire to be there and didn't really care about anything.
I'm a big chicken and waffles fan so I ordered that. When she asked me for my side I pointed at the section of the menu with the sides and said I wanted a biscuit and gravy. After going to check with someone she told me I couldn't have that as a side, even though it was listed with the sides. I tell her ok, which sides can I have, and she begins to list off stuff including hash browns, so I tell her I want hash browns. She leaves the table.
A while goes by, no drink arrives, and eventually another waitress (going to call her waitress 2) comes up to the table and tells me that they don't actually have hash browns, they have hash brown casserole, which I wasn't interested in, so I told her that I didn't want a side. She said are you sure? I said yeah, I wanted a biscuit and gravy as a side, but was told that wasn't possible. She tells me "oh yeah you can have biscuits and gravy as a side" so I said yeah let's do that. She leaves.
A little more time goes by and waitress 2 comes back past the table and asks if we need anything, I tell her I'd like to get my drink, so she goes and gets it.
Our food is brought out by the first waitress, who then asks if we need anything else, and I tell her I'd like some butter and syrup for my waffles. She brings back this syrup dispenser which is completely covered in syrup and quickly leaves. I managed to flag down waitress 2 a short while later and ask for something to wipe the handle off with so I can use the syrup, and she ends up bringing me another syrup dispenser and taking the old one, which has left a puddle of syrup on the table.
We eat and determine that it's not very good. The breading of the chicken was chewy, the chicken was dry, the waffle was ok, the biscuits were crunchy, and the gravy tasted like it came from a dry mix packet. My wife said her food wasn't all that great either. They never asked about how our food was.
Finally I flagged down our original waitress and asked for three to-go boxes and the check. She brought out small boxes, which weren't enough to fit all the food, so I had to ask waitress 2 for another box when she came by. The first waitress came back by and dropped the check off at the table, directly into the puddle of syrup.
I looked at the check and saw that I had been charged for a full order of biscuits and gravy. Waitress 2 came by about that time and asked if we needed anything else, so I pointed at the check and asked that they remove the biscuits and gravy from the check since they were supposed to be a side which was included. She told me no they could not remove it and that biscuits and gravy didn't count as a regular side (the same one earlier who said they did).
I briefly started to explain the issue that not only had I been told that they were included as a side, but that I wasn't even charged the side price for the biscuits and gravy, I was charged for the biscuits and gravy meal, which included other things that I never even got and didn't order to begin with, but decided right then and there that it no longer mattered to me because I wouldn't come back. She asked me if I wanted to speak to the manager about possibly getting it removed from the bill, I told her no.
I didn't tell her this, but there was no point in me having to ask a manager to correct an incorrect meal and ultimately comp a bad experience that had already spiraled way too far when I knew I wasn't coming back. There were plenty of opportunities to fix this experience and they failed at every level at that point.
Definitely would not recommend...

A friend of mine and I arrived here expecting to wait and it was indeed busy.
On the way there we used the button under the Google maps review to put ourself on the wait list. We were number seven so it took us 20 minutes to be seated. No big deal. The restaurant is painted with very bright colors, it's very open spaced, and spic and span clean. The floors are tiled. It was slightly noisy, but not at all unpleasant.
Our server, Sonia, greeted us quickly and was as sweet as she could be! I asked for diet Coke and a bottled Negro Modelo while my buddy got a Coke zero. No diet Dr. Pepper here folks 🤣
I had the COWBOY SCRAMBLE, two split buttermilk biscuits, covered with bacon, sausage, ham, onions, and three scrambled eggs topped with country sausage gravy. My friend had the PATTY MELT, a half pound burger, topped with grilled onions, Swiss cheese, and spicy mustard served on grilled rye bread. As I said, the restaurant was very very busy, so we knew we were going to wait a bit for our food. It took 22 minutes, not bad at all for Sunday brunch 😁
I am a very very big eater and I could only make it 1/3 of the way through my plate. It was absolutely delicious! The hash brown casserole was a fantastic side dish. The fruit is a nice idea, but it's not something I would usually request. My lunch was excellent and I definitely took the rest home. My friend's patty melt looked exceptional on that marbled rye. He told me it was good, but he did not get on top of the table and dance about it!!🤪
Sonya was very friendly and checked on us often. She was hopping with all of her guests, but she always made time for us.
Lunch for the both of us was $46 and it was most definitely worth it. This place is an absolute treat! You need to go soon because...
