I’ve been going here since moving to the area. You could call me a regular or at least a frequent patron. However, after tonight, which was the most recent of frustrating experiences of the past year of dining here, I am done. I will not be going back.
Let me be clear, it is the service. Not the food. The food is always excellent and consistent. Plenty of it, good tasting, and delicious. However, the service, of which was very good several years ago has consistently been bad to simply awful over the past year.
The waitstaff, although super friendly, will have to be reminded of simple things - please bring us utensils and napkins, please remember that my child gets a dessert with this meal according to the menu, please can I get a refill of my drink? That is if you can get your waitperson’s attention. Simply put the most frustrating of the dining experience is that after the initial order, you are pretty much abandoned. Every once in a while your waitperson checks on you and since you have been waiting for so long you feel like you are piling on all the requests, some of which should be basic (can I please have a utensil)?
Tonight, after another of what I have come to expect but hope against in the vast wasteland of the back table and forgotten about, my party of five, one being an exhausted child, waited for 25 minutes to get our check. My friend and I got up and walked to the kitchen entrance to find our waitress to ask to please get the check. After waiting for another few minutes, with our coats on ready to go, we asked for the check. This took another ten minutes to receive. To clarify, this now was 35 minutes to get the check after the waitress saw we had put our coats on and had to find her. When she handed us the check, there was no apology, no sense of disregard, and no pen to fill out the tip and total. Luckily, my buddy had a pen otherwise I assume we might have waited until closing time. The kicker was we then had to find the waitress again to simply hand her the now completed check.
First world problems? Yes. Do people deal with much more in the world? Of course. Going out for a nice time for a night of dining and leisure should hopefully be an enjoyable experience. It was due to the company but what was clear is that Margarita’s, what once was my favorite restaurant in town, where I brought friends routinely, was now a place that I will now go out of my way to avoid...
Read moreMy husband and I have been going to margaritas for years now (we had our first date here, got engaged here, and even had my bridal shower there ). Unfortunately the service at margaritas has taken a serious downturn. A few weeks ago, we tried to park in the back parking lot next to Cronins landing, and we were met by an extremely distrubed man wearing giant headphones and yellow vest, who proceeded to follow us around while we looked for a spot. We didn’t feel safe leaving our car there, so we instead went to bison country up the road. We tried again this past Saturday, and this same creepy guy was there. We honestly thought he was mentally unstable because he kept following us around and staring us down. He approached us and knocked on the window (without identifying himself ) and asked where we were going. This isn’t normal behavior and I felt really uncomfortable and I phoned the Waltham police. The officer we spoke to was actually familiar with this guy, because she actually asked him who he was as he was lingering in the parking lot. Turns out he's a Margarita's employee!! So as we parked in the lot, we went in the restaurant and I told the hostess about the man in the back and suggested he wear a Margarita's shirt so as to not scare other customers away.
As we sat down at the bar, another couple followed behind us and were served immediately with chips and salsa and drinks (while our bartender completely ignored us). She (The bartender) continued to talk to the other couple in Spanish while we patiently waited for service. Luckily the other bartender, came by and took our food and drink order. By the time we got her attention, we quickly ate our food and left after one drink.
I thought bartenders liked to make money!
We won't be back. Bison country has better food and better service - we kept coming back because we had a lot of good...
Read moreWe came here late night after the show choir competition that brought us to town. After walking in and seeing no sign indicating if we should seat ourselves or wait (and having MULTIPLE employees walk by and not even acknowledge us with so much as a smile), we took a table near the bar. Another 5 minute plus wait with no acknowledgement so my step dad asked the bartender if we had a server. She finally came by and asked what we wanted to drink so we asked for a pitcher of margs and a Corona. Another 10 minutes and no drinks, menus or chips/salsa. Another waitress pops by to ask us if we ordered drinks. We said that we thought we did, but it had been a while. Drinks finally come out, but still nothing else so we ASK our waitress for menus and chips/salsa. Another 5 plus minutes and she comes back with the menus and one basket of chips and ONE small salsa bowl. We ask for more. She disappears again, though we see her over sitting and chatting with friends at the bar (which seems to be common here). Over a half hour after we arrive, we finally order and get more salsa. The food was terrible. All of it. The salsa tasted like the worst jar version I have ever had. Then the bill came. $63 for a shared steak fajita, my plain bean burrito and side of rice, my one beer and the pitcher of margaritas (which came in a small carafe for $25😳). Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Side note: The poor service wasn't an issue of lack of staff. It was an issue of lack of staff wanting to work...
