The theming in the restaurant itself is great. I love the pickle seats, that's a fun touch. But I have to say, for a restaurant who's entire identity is built around pickles, their pickle selections on the menu were non-existent. How can you call yourself that and not even have fried pickles? Every meal seemed to come with a complimentary pickle and it wasn't even a good pickle, very wet and flaccid with no crunch. The food overall was pretty good, nothing to write home about, just fine, which the pricing sadly did not reflect. We were given each a single napkin despite ordering bbq wings, so we had to ask for more napkins early on. The menu was covered on almost all pages with awful AI images which gave the place an overall feeling of cheapness. How are gonna charge me nearly $20 for a burger and still be too cheap to pay for actually appealing art. In addition I feel generally sick when I look at ai generated images, so being bombarded with them made me feel like I was going to throw up, and the food did not make up for it. Overall I had high hopes, especially considering how strong the theme seemed going in, but it ended up consistently disappointing me as my visit went on, never quite meeting any expectation no matter how low I set them. Edit: That response is incredibly disrespectful and dismissive so let me just rebutt it entirely really quick. To start, you have a point, I didn't see your piece about how you got the name. It's almost like your menu was covered in horrible imagery I was trying to avoid seeing. Weird. However, counterpoint. You own the restaurant. You can put pickles on it. You lean into the theming in other places, what prevents you from doing more? So no, I don't think that's an excuse. Though considering how bad your pickles were, maybe it's a good thing you don't serve any actual pickle foods. Secondly, I am not a troll, and I am not purely negative. You wish I was. I wasn't disrespectful in my review. All of my critique was based entirely in the reality of your subpar restaurant. And if you actually took your own advice and read a bit more, you would see that I always properly review places, even if I'm negative. If there's positives to be said, I say them. There just weren't many here. For example, in my Joe's review, I recommend a much better place for the price and hours. And here, I review the waitress high because she was good, and nothing wrong with our experience was her fault. I mainly review negative because I only feel it's worth leaving a review when somewhere is so bad that the community should be warned. Mindless praise doesn't improve a place, critique does. That's how you help build up your community. And on that note, maybe you should help build your community too! A good start would be to hire an actual artist so your menu isn't offensively ugly. How dare you tell me to help build the community when you can't even take critique without looking for an excuse to discredit the reviewer, all while plastering those disquieting images all over your lackluster menu. It certainly doesn't help your food taste any more worth the price. So in conclusion, you need to be better. And how that happens, is knowing where you fail. Which currently, is nearly everywhere. Maybe if you improve then you wouldn't have to read mean nasty words like mine, but after your childish response, I don't see you...
Read moreExtremely rude owner I had a previous coworker who worked at my old job work as a server he quit in two weeks. He was are top server at the restaurant I worked at, and told me how awful it was. In addition servers are made to review the restaurant and ask guests to do so as well. Which is ethically irresponsible. They are told if you don’t review or get customers to review and ask them at every table you have during your shift , you won’t get shifts or your shifts cut .He screams at his workers and was rude because I applied when I was sick and he slammed me on indeed. Not friendly and he cuts your hours if you don’t follow his regime. He has a bad temper and is extremely arrogant and rude his comment says it all by his response don’t go here ! Wow and I was admitted in the hospital one time the other time I had an incident at my current job n fell. I dodged a HUGE bullet not you, the owner stated this which is super inappropriate.I also ordered takeout when I lived in Waltham spent over 75$ the pictures look nothing like the food it’s literally cold n disgusting! I lived within a 5 minute drive and we picked up our order. I ordered one of the fancy pancakes n i literally was so sick from them for days. It is diabetes in a restaurant like literally the storefront has rats running huge ones right outside the restaurant I’m sure there inside as well. My bf got the breakfast burrito n he was also sick it’s either he doesn’t know how to cook correctly or treats his help so poorly the quality control is so terrible. If I worked as a cook I wouldn’t enjoy my job if I was paid poorly and treated horribly either. I literally was in a cast another timr he wanted to interview me and I fell at work after Xmas when my old restaurant had 550 guests. I was working full time when he wanted interview me . I was the opener and there all day with no breaks. He responded that I did not contact him when I was currently working and in a huge cast via the hospital, which I contacted my current job first. I must have forgot due to the pain I was in and it wasn’t my first priority my current job and current boss was. This owner is repulsive he deleted his response because I’m sure others read it and thought wow what a jerk and yes he has a temper! Buyers and workers beware! He’s constantly looking for help because he is so awful to his employees no one lasts working there. Do yourselves a favor and skip this restaurant he clearly is greedy and takes the majority of money earned for himself and does not pay his help appropriately. This fact tells it all about him and his...
Read moreWe take our dog every month and a half or so to be groomed in Waltham, not too far from In a Pickle. We went there this morning for breakfast after dropping off our dog. We were Seated right away and the service was very good. Overall, we all enjoyed our food very much except there was one serious problem. My wife who is dairy free asked the waiter if there was any almond milk for her coffee. He told us that the restaurant does not serve any kind of dairy alternative such as almond milk, oat milk, etc. this made it impossible for my wife to have a cup of coffee, which is crazy for a breakfast spot. It is really nuts where the bill for three people plus Him on the walktip was right around $100. While do believe That with the advances in science restaurants can and should be more attentive to people with allergies I fully understand when a restaurant is not able to offer a gluten-free or a dairy free menu because they are concerned legally about cross contamination, etc., but where this place specializes in breakfast and I would say every table I saw had at least 2 cups of coffee sitting on it if not more I think it’s absurd that they do not have a dairy alternative for people to use in their coffee I asked the waiter how many times during his shift people ask for a dairy alternative for coffee and he told me at least 10 or 12. message to owner: you are going to lose a ton of customers and repeat business. I am sure your supplier can help you figure out a correct amount of Dairy alternative to have on hand so that all people can enjoy coffee which most people expect and want when they go out for breakfast Especially at breakfast restauran That charges a premium price and where people often have to wait in line. Unfortunately, we will not be able to go back Until this policy changes. This is not a criticism of the staff or the kitchen. I am giving this a three star rating with hopes that management will read it And consider the request as I think it’s a very important part of breakfast for everyone to be able to have a cup of coffee that they want. To end this on a positive note, my wife ordered an omelette and when she asked if the home fries had butter, she was told yes. She asked if she could substitute french fries and when the waiter told her there would be a A five dollar up charge she asked if the restaurant would waive the up charge because she could not eat the home fries and the restaurant complied. So I believe there is room for...
