My wife and I took a day trip to W Virginia from DC on July 5th and stumbled upon this cute little town in West Virginia. A couple of the locals in Wardensville suggested we try Kac-Ka-Pon before we head back to DC. I didn't catch our servers name but he was a very polite young man. Did his job well. He suggested the baked haddock and I'm glad he did. It was fantastic. I had the haddock over rice, mashed with gravy and pickled beets. The beets were phenomenal. My wife had a pork chop with mashed and green beans. She was happy with her selection as well. Don't forget to ask for rolls. They were warm and delicious. Our server asked us several times how our food was. He never let our soft drinks get empty which tells me he was paying attention to us. Lastly, the price was mind boggling to me. For the two delicious meals we had and several soft drinks, our total bill came to $30. I paid more than that for breakfast at Cracker Barrel in Manassas that morning. I couldn't believe how fair the pricing was. I don't think the team at Kac Ka Pon get a lot of visitors in their kitchen because I stepped in quickly to let the chef know how pleased we were and he looked at me like I had 3 heads. I was just trying to be friendly. Anyways, we would go back to this restaurant if we're ever in...
Read moreI stopped in yesterday on my way back from Petersburg West Virginia for a bite to eat. I stood for a couple minutes and no one approached me so I walked to the cash register and the girl said are you here for pick up. I said no I would like to sit down and have something to eat then she said choose a table. I ordered the special, hamburger steak with mushrooms and onions mashed potatoes and green beans. Halfway through the meal I made the discovery no one likes to find a long curly black hair in the bottom of my beans. I know occasionly we all find a hair in our food be it an eyelash or someone's hair from their head and I can usually deal with it but not in this case. I immediately lost my appetite and showed it to the waitress. I would have expected someone to come out and apologize but no one did they didn't charge me for the meal but they had the audacity to charge me for my iced tea which I thought was Ridiculous. They do have good...
Read moreSurprisingly good and reasonably priced place for a hearty home cooked breakfast. The place was super clean and the staff friendly and courteous. Definitely the small town feel here. You won't be disappointed. Stopped by here for breakfast after spending the weekend at Blackwater lodge. My husband and I had a very tasty and filling breakfast for less than $20. This is unheard of anymore. I had the breakfast sandwich which was toast, scrambled eggs, and choice of ham, bacon or sausage with cheese. I I had it with ham and no cheese. Delicious. My husband had biscuits and gravy with a side of grits. Yummm. Don't pass this one by if you're passing through. You won't be...
