Drove all the way from Colorado on vacation, and I was really looking forward to New England chowder and lobster. New England was the freshest, New England was the best, New England was a lot cheaper than we can eat lobster in land-locked Colorado. This place had signs all over that said, "Voted best lobster roll" and "Voted best chowder"! This was my first stop, and I was ready.
First off, the lady at the counter was very nice, though English was definitely not her first language. We mulled over what we were going to eat ... my wife got a fried clam strip plate, I got a cup of chowder and a lobster roll, we shared an order of fried scallops and we got a couple of sodas. The total bill was about $95! You read that right, $95!! On top of that, the receipt asked to add a tip for an order that doesn't even get served to your table!!
The food was all tasty, but it wasn't stop the train tasty. The lobster roll was $31 by itself. It doesn't even come with a side. I had to order a tablespoon of coleslaw on the side for extra. For $31 I was expecting an 8-10" hoagie roll full of the most tantalizing meat I've ever sunk my teeth into. Instead, I got a puny hot dog bun with a small heap of some rather bland tasting lobster. The whole roll was smaller than my hand (see pic), and I have small hands. $31??? Did they see my license plate and just play a cruel joke on me??
The scallops were good, but again, the very small serving was over $20!!
The chowder was tasty. There was a flavor I did not recognize in the ingredients, but I still liked it. I cannot say, however, that it was any better than what you could get out of the can.
My wife's clam strips were good, and at least her plate came with a couple fries and a tablespoon of coleslaw. She said the tartar sauce was the best she'd ever tried. Don't know if they make their own tartar sauce in house or not.
Wow! I'm still in sticker shock. Our whole meal, including two kid sized drinks, fit onto one tray for $95!!!! Not...
Read moreI can’t say the food was the worst that we’ve ever had, it was decent, Barnacle Bills is way better though. I am writing this because of the extremely atrocious customer service we received by the owner. When we walked in, we weren’t greeted, and it was 4:30pm on a Tuesday, and one other couple in the establishment. The owner finally came over and mumbled something to us being in the wrong place to order food. We asked for water, and received it just fine, the problem was when we wanted more, “free” water, I tried to hand the cups back and the owner rudely stated they can’t take them back, oh, I totally get that, but his next response should have been, here’s another cup, but he walked away. I started to let it go, but I felt it might be a racial issue based on us being a mixed-race couple(I didn’t want to invoke the race card), so I politely went back to the counter and asked for more water, and you guessed it, only gave me one cup, there were 2 of us. I guess this man needs a couple of classes in hospitality in the service industry, because based on other reviews, it’s not his first time being rude. This is the ONLY time we have had a bad experience in the Wareham area so far, and it’s...
Read moreAfter a long day of traveling, my husband and I stopped here to grab a bite to eat. After ordering my food, my husband ordered the broiled scallops and requested to substitute the french fries/rice pilaf for a garden salad; My husband is carb free for health reasons. After requesting this, there was a little confusion as to why and I tried explaining the situation and it was immediately shot down by the staff; and they said we would have to pay for a side salad - $9.99 on top of the already $30.00 plate of broiled scallops. I asked to speak with the manager, and when he approached, I explained the situation and again shot down. I find it a bit ridiculous that this occurred as there are numerous people who have to be card free for health reasons and when they are trying to enjoy the little seafood (without bread crumbs or other carbohydrates) they can eat, they get hit with a seemingly impossible situation of sides - most places offer a side salad. Obviously, the Lobster Pot isn't most places. So if you're carb free, save yourself a trip here and go down the road to Barnacle Bill's where they have an ACTUAL panseared scallop salad - among other carb-fee...
