Great pizza, Italian style. But place a bit 1950, spider webs and all and not Halloween themed. Plus staff a bid messed up, went to grab 2 subs and a pizza Saturday night, subs ready when arrived, great, told pizza pending. Stood in front of the counter as no seating with Covid, waited 15 minutes plus while the 12 staff spilled there tip jar on the counter and divided it up, 3 customers waiting within 6 feet from the pile of cash. All fine enough so far being reasonable.
But then I told my pal with me, we should ask on the pizza, this is odd, 3 people have come and gone.
My pal asked, and one gal went on the oven and pulled down the pizza, been there the total time. Then my pal said, why didn't anyone tell us or ask why we were standing 6 feet from the counter in a huge space with nobody asking what are we waiting on, no joke there were 12 folks I counted behind the counter and max over the 15 minutes 3 customer waiting for pickup.
So when my pal complained why didn't anyone ask what we were waiting on, of pizza for xyz name, One of the owners shouts out, big deal you waited 2 minutes. (It was 15/20 minutes, but worse standing in this huge place, only customers standing there for more than 5 minutes over that time)
The proper answer was simple, we so sorry here you go, or shift change, or dog ate our customer service report homework, whatever. Note: customer service is limited these days with Covid, take out or delivery only so not very complex.
Summery, great pizza, but they need to work on process and customer service. Maybe move the owner answering phones to the fryolator out back away from the public.
Plus last note, cash only, good work if you can...
Read moreI have lived in Onset my entire life and will never eat at Mark Anthony’s again due to the more horrible customer service I have ever received. My mother and I ordered a pizza for pickup. We arrived early and the restaurant was slammed. My mother is elderly and was aggressively told the pizza wasn’t ready in a way that made her incredibly upset and was ordered to “sit down.” I went to speak to the staff - completely understand when things are busy it can get chaotic and I’m sure the environment did make my mother feel overwhelmed, but instead of apologizing for being extremely rude to my 80 year old mother the woman owned up to the situation, proceeded to tell me how obnoxious my mother was being in a very condescending tone (my mother is the kindest woman in the world) and when I offered up the suggestion to be kinder to your customers even when things are busy and that I’d just appreciate an apology for my mother she said verbatim “I refuse to apologize to you for doing my job”. I very calmly said if that is how mark Anthony’s treats people I will never eat here again to which she responded “look around Ma’am, we do not need your business.” I have a ton of experience in customer service and I understand customers can sometimes be annoying but my mother raised me to be kind to everyone. This employee extremely got defensive, refused to apologize and it was completely unacceptable behavior. I don’t care how busy you are, just be kind. I’d rather eat sub par pizza with a nicer staff any day...
Read moreWhile the food is what makes it worth the trip the service (specifically the owners attitude) is abominable. Went yesterday and ordered a cheeseburger and two slices. The place was hoping as it was right around lunchtime. The burger came but no pie slices. The owner said "we'll call you when it's ready". I offered to leave the order slip and he just waved me off and repeated how he'd call when ready. 5 minutes go by and I go back up to the counter and the owner accuses me of being a "Karen" because I'm inquiring about food I've paid for AND can clearly see behind him on the order waiting shelf. I just pointed out it was odd that 2 slices had just gone out the door and another two were sitting on the order waiting shelf. He again barked you're just a Karen we'll call when it's ready. I could see they were busy. Trying to be light hearted I asked one of the other workers there what a male Karen was and was told Kevin. I joked that must be his (pointed to owner) name. Anyway still no pizza slices. I went back and sat down - my friend finished his cheeseburger and they still never gave me the pizza. In the end spent $14 for a cheeseburger and NO PIZZA, no apology and no refund!! Very disappointing- I think I need to reconsider going there - while the food is tasty (if you can actually get it)... the treatment was...
