Second visit 3/22/25 and last. Review is not about the food, but about the service.

First visit was a few days prior, was a pleasant encounter with the owner Pete. (We talked about him putting up the Store's new name.)

This time on Saturday, after again spending almost $45 on sandwiches. I asked the guy behind the counter, the one that weighs probably close to 400 lbs., for the same condiments Pete had gave me, 2 cups of sliced pickles and 2 cups of hot pepper relish. The big guy gave me one of each. I then asked him for a second cup of each, mind you these are tiny quarter and dime-size cups. He just stands there balking at me and then walks away. As I'm leaving, another man behind the counter called me and handed them to me.

Actually, if I wanted to also be cheap, I was owed a dollar. Fran who rang me up, charged me $8 for my Mac and Pasta salad. Now the Mac and Pasta, are each the "SAME" price. Instead she charged me the single price twice, instead of the discounted price $7, you get for buying two salads. (Large) Asked her why and her thinking was, since the containers contents had "different" salads, she should still charge twice at the single price....nice lady, thought that was cute.

Well, all in all, thanks to big guy, that was enough fun there for me. Too bad, had just moved nearby, oh well.

Seriously big guy, you better lose weight while you're still young.

Btw, speaking of tiny cups. Love it when you go somewhere and get a large full-size Salad for Takeout and you find just 2 of those little quarter-size cups in the bag, for your salad dressing. One exception in the area, is Lancers Diner in Horsham. You'll get one of those cardboard soup tureens, with a good third filled with dressing. Apparently, I'm digressing now,...

What an amazing experience!

My wife and I are originally from Chicago and have been living in the Philly area for over 20 years now. And let me be honest—while we love the East Coast, it doesn't always offer that good old-fashioned Midwest hospitality we're used to. (If you're from the East Coast, you probably know what I mean.)

But the folks at Philly Pete's Eats made us feel right at home from the moment we walked through the door. It started with Pete himself greeting us with a friendly hello, followed by the entire staff welcoming us in. Can I just say—they had me at “hello.” 😊

And it only got better from there.

I ordered the beef cheesesteak, and my wife had the chicken. Oh my! The beef was moist, tender, and bursting with flavor. The homemade roll was warm, soft, and absolutely perfect. I added mushrooms, and unlike a lot of places, these were fresh—not out of a can. Honestly, this was the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had. And being from Chicago, where food is a way of life, that's saying something.

Pete even came over to chat with us during our meal, and suddenly it felt like we were sitting in our own kitchen, being served by an old friend. That kind of genuine hospitality is rare.

Thank you, Pete—your place is truly one of a kind. In the great words of a certain famous actor:...

I felt like I was in Philly as soon as I walked in. It smelled great right off the bat! The guy behind the counter was extremely friendly and welcoming! We told him it was our first time there and he went above and beyond to be friendly and accommodating! Making sure we got our free pickles, peppers and their homemade delicious oil vinegar blend! 🥴🥵 he threw in a free fried pumpkin spice ore on the house that they have on the menu all year round! (It was amazing I cant wait to have more)We ordered a cheese steak on garlic bread with fried onions and bacon 🥓 😋 (highly recommended) Honestly im born and raised in bucks county simply hands down the best cheesesteak iv had in many years if not ever! We ate the beef cheesesteak before we could snap a picture it was that delicious! I got marinara sauce on the side! Their sauce is delicious and definitely homemade! Best rolls iv had in a very long time. We got the sharp italian hoagie which was also very delicious and highly recommended! The thinly sliced red onion, tomato and lettuce combined with a delicious fresh baked roll and the perfect ratio of meats and cheeses! Literally to die for! Me and my partner can't wait to go back! Thank you for a great experience and providing...

Food tastes like eating in a cheesteak shop from the late 90's. Same gross Via La France par-baked roll Steak & Hoagie Fagtory made famous circa 1995. Basic Frank's hot sauce mixed with a few sticks of cheap butter. Staff had zero comprehension of how to properly make a cheesesteak, meat barely chopped up, this list goes on and on for this place. Hoods were off so the store smelled of burnt grease with a light fog if grease in the air. Had to ask to open the door just to breath. Not sure how they are in business serving last centuries style food? Today tried the 5.00 smash burger. Again zero comprehension of what a smash burger is, this was just a thin burger, not smashed, not at all. It was gross, it was dry and there were those little grislte balls you find in cheap meat. I liked the cooper sharp sauce but not on a burger. You need the cheese to keep the burgers stable, one bite of this burger and it slid out of the bun. Hate to be so harsh but this place just seems like it wants to be closed but the owner can't let go.

This place is fantastic! From the darn good traditional cheesesteaks to the "spin on the cheesesteaks" (chicken pesto on the garlic roll) to the old bay seasoned fries with cheese sauce, you can not go wrong! We added the spicy relish to our traditional cheesesteaks and that was chef's kiss. Seriously, if you don't have the time to go all the way into Philly proper, this is your place! *Can't end this review without mentioning the kindness of the ENTIRE staff, from the owner to the teenager learning the cash register, to all the guys in the back, we were treated like old friends, talking us newbies through the menu and giving us their personal recommendations. And they have a military discount so extra "good people" points, in our opinion!
