While Village Bagel has great food, its online ordering system needs an overhaul. Technically speaking, there's nothing wrong with the online ordering system--the problem is the way in which customers retrieve their order. Village Bagel leaves your order in a marked bag in an area adjacent the cashier's station. As far as I can tell, customers are free to pickup their order without interacting with staff. Early in the morning, an older lady (whom I presume is the owner) is often the only staff member present. I regularly place orders in the morning and pick it up about fifteen minutes later. This morning, I picked up my food and a cup of coffee. I'm a younger adult and I was wearing a winter jacket and beanie. Well, after I retrieved my item and left the store she walked over to my car and asked if I ordered something, i.e., if I had stolen the food and coffee. My order was the only order situated in that area and given that this was very early in the morning, she most likely prepared my order and was familiar with its contents. When I'm not being accused of theft, I get death stares from this particular woman whenever I enter the shop. On one occasion when I placed an order in-person, she was grumpy and unpleasant. I understand prejudices exist and she has an interest in protecting her business, but staring me down every time I come in and outright accusing me of theft is wildly inappropriate and is a reflection of their business ethic. Village Bagel should assign someone to oversee the online order area and require customers to speak with a staff member in order to retrieve their items. I was so offended by her behavior this morning that I will now be acquiring my breakfast from Dunkin' Donuts down the street which is unfortunate because their food is...
Read moreWent there with my 10 year old to get breakfast for his birthday since this was one of his favorite places to go to but we didn’t know it was under new ownership and I can’t believe how much things have changed. The staff was so rude and the food was so terrible had no taste and both our bagels were stale had hard as a rock. When I asked a employee if we could change our bagels because the ones we had gotten where used as a rock and tasted really stale he said no I can’t do that just because you don’t like what you ordered. I asked to speak with a manager and after being lied to saying that no manager was working right now to come back later they magically found one. I told the manager about this issues with our order and he gave us the fake apology saying that the food never should have come out to us like that and that if I wanted he would give us the same thing again. After waiting 20 minutes for a new order it was literally the same thing hard as a rock and stale. My son was in tears at this point because he was really hungry so I asked for the manager again after another 15 minutes he came back out and said “ now what’s the issue” with a smug grin on his face. I told him that is was stale and hard again and was told I don’t know what I’m talking about. I asked for my money back since they can’t make our order right and he refused to since he had to re make our order. This is the worst place to get a bagel rude staff and they don’t care about taking care of the customers. New owners suck and need to get out of the busies since they don’t know what the heck...
Read moreExtremely sad and disheartening to write this review after coming here for years and it being 5 stars everytime. Until now.
No more quality. NONE. Powdered eggs, tasteless bagels, and underdone sandwiches that take 4x as long to wait for as before. I guess the new owner didn't buy the bagel recipes or clean the shop since the purchase. It's not like there's a billion farmers markets or great butchers around the area where you can buy quality meat or eggs for a reasonable price either... heaven forbid somebody would understand the concept of "you give a little, you get a little."
I mean, I got some spicy sassiness when I picked up my order last week, so here's a sassy review for you. Your wait times are longer than a cvs receipt. You're, now, the subway of bagel shops. In all my time on this earth, ive never had to question if food i had just bought was rancid or not. You're the next up season finale of kitchen nightmares.
I wanted to give a shout out to the old owners and staff around covid quarantine times, not these new folks. YOU GUYS SAVED THE DAY TIME AND TIME AGAIN! On dismal days being stuck inside the house, those delicious bagels and spreads made the mornings something more to look forward to. Wherever you guys went, I wish you the best. You put your hearts into those bagels.
Welcome to the business world new owner. Way to take a gem and pulverize it into a...
