I wasn't even hungry, and I tried the Walleye breakfast because why the hell not? I really want breakfast sausage, but it's Lake of the Woods, lets spend a few extra $$$ and get the walleye. I ate all of it. Best walleye I've had in my life, no cap. Had acid reflux for the rest of the day, but it was worth it. Not only will I go to Joe's Place again, but I'll demand that everyone get the walleye breakfast. My father bristled when I said it was the best walleye I've had in my life. He is a walleye fisherman and was a chef at a fine dining restaurant in his 20s so he has a lot of misplaced pride in thinking that he's good, but the truth is he downs a pint of vodka by the time the food is ready... I didn't know grilled chicken could be moist, delicious, and not black until I was 20 when someone else grilled some up for me. Eggs were done as I asked. Hashbrown proportions were just right, like Perkins and a special shout out to the waitress who gave me my bill on the early side. I appreciate that. Got places to go and things to do on a week day. Not to knock on the "atmosphere" but it's just not cozy. It just doesn't have that breakfast diner feel. It's "hollow" in there. Not sure what you can do about it, just keep making great food, but the "feeling" was 'off' the moment I stepped in the door. Blah blah blah, effing amazing walleye breakfast. Can't wait to feel hungry again.

Excellent service and amazing food. If you remember the Kozy Kitchen on Main Street you will feel at home. What a great Homestyle comfort food diner with great cook and staff at very reasonable prices!! If you leave hungry it won't be their fault!

Possibly one of the best breakfasts I've had. Sausage and cheese omelet and hash browns, simple, good home cooking. Was busy the entire time we were there (10:30 on Sunday), but staff kept up well. Clean bathrooms and dining area.

Well....looking at the other reviews I must say that I only WISH we would have gotten to the point of trying the food here. We sat down at a recently vacated table and waited for our waiter. After 10 minutes he came to clear the dishes and wipe off the table....then nothing...no " I will be right with you", no menus, never asked what we would like to drink. Another 15 minutes went by...we watched him clear tables, deliver food, stand behind the counter and even bring menus, beverages and take the order of the people that just walked through the door. At that point we decided we could just grab some menus for ourselves but we were scolded by the other server and told he would be right with us...6 more minutes later we grabbed menus hoping that even though we had no beverages we would be ready with our order when he finally got to us. Another 5 minutes and I finally got up walked tward the kitchen to find the man. Told him we have waited 1/2 hour for service, could we at least get some coffee? I walked back out to the table and it was then that I saw my grandaughter tearing up to cry. You see this was her birthday breakfast, there were 10 OF US WAITING FOR OVER A HALF HOUR. At that point we got up and left. Good food? Maybe, but evidently small town diners like this place do so well they didn't need this out of towners money. Will definitely spread the word to others...

Have been to Joe's before and really enjoyed it. The food is very good. However, had a not-so-good experience today. When we got our bill, we were pretty surprised. Hubby had asked if he could substitute pancakes for toast. He's done it before there, and the waitress said he could. When we got the bill, he was charged an additional $9 for two pancakes! And, no, he didn't get toast. That certainly wasn't a "substitute" and the additional charge wasn't mentioned to us (and ridiculous for 2 pancakes). When I asked about my toast options, it wasn't mentioned that there was an additional charge for my choice either. And both our breakfasts were higher on the bill than what the menu stated. Hubby mentioned the basic price was wrong on the bill and it was changed. We didn't mention the "up charges" for pancakes or my toast, but we just won't go back. There was absolutely no one else in there at 8:00 am, so perhaps there's a reason. It's too bad ... as there are very few places to go for breakfast...
