We have been coming here for 28 years. I brought my kids here I brought my grandkids here and my mother-in-law and father-in-law live down the street quarter mile. The last few trips to Rhode Island we were unable to get to Iggy's so it's been a couple of years. We ordered the fish and chips, we ordered red chowder, white chowder and of course clam cake. To say our hearts broke is an understatement. The clam cakes used to be full of clams and had odd shapes because they were hand dropped.. these look definitely balled up like meatballs; like they were shaped.. if not frozen and then reheated. Hardly any clams in the clam cake. My husband was excited when he found one clam chunk; sarcastically excited. I remember boasting about how you could stick a spoon straight up in the chowder..not this one it was runny and watery and disgusting. It didn't even taste like clams it tasted like potato soup..barely. The red chowder wasn't even red it was like a mix between clear and red but someone decided to throw in three little canned tomato pieces. The baked scallops were soggy and disgusting and the french fries, even though I know they come frozen, we're nothing to boast about either. The fish n chips disappointed. It used to be a fish that barely fit in the container and now it's a fish that could fit in one side portion of the container. The baked scrod was not bad but it just looked ick. Iggy's threw a small piece of fish in with some squishy side vegetables and some rice pilaf that look like it came out of a bag premade. All of the lemons they gave us were disgusting and smelled like soap and were oily; so we had to throw them out. The only pictures I could take was right before my husband dumped it all down the sink. We had guests for lunch who had never had Iggy's and we must have boasted and boasted about it for hours before it arrived. We spent well over $240 on this order and I feel like we got ripped off big time by Iggy's. We will not come back anymore. I can understand the price hikes and I can understand the economy but I cannot understand changing recipes that made this place famous. I now feel 100% confident that my white chowder is better than theirs any day of the week. And that is something that I would never have said over the two plus decades we have been coming here. Is so sad when a childhood memory turns into an adult nightmare. Do better Iggy's... Just do better. Economy be damned don't screw with the chowder and the clam cakes. After all that's what made you famous and that was the original menu.
-Sad and disappointed, Local Oakland Beacher.

Read moreThe jury remains out having visited this Warwick locale on three occasions.
The first visit was mid-summer, and the food ordered was standard fare, having had NE clam chowder, stuffies, and a Clam Bake boiled lobster supper. Nothing exceptional; the chowder was less creamy in consistency than RI competitors and portionately more potato vs clam in ingredient content; the lobster was unfortunately overcooked and more rubbery than should be under proper preparation. The stuffies were tasteless: 90 % bread concoctions and the vegetable side unimaginative and poorly presented.
The second visit was Labour Day weekend and by contrast the best salmon meal I've ever had. A special billed as Tuscan salmon over risotto, it was brilliantly executed and had award winning flavor. We started with a special of fried calamari with spicy Italian tomato sauce and again, perfectly cooked and not over powered by breading.
The third visit was over Columbus Day Weekend and was served the mixed seafood platter, which once again was lackluster featuring a repeat of the August chowder disappointment, rubbery lobster claws and bread stuffies free of clams.
My strongest suggestion? Order the specials and skip the menu classic choices. There are far more superior executions of these in equally priced locales throughout the Ocean State.
Wait staff is always accomodating and courteous and its boardwalk setting a scenic, visual plus. But as the food is paramount in any restaurant review, we will again try having menu du jour options when next there to properly test our theory out. We are cognizant that your meal us only as good as your head chef, and may have exoerienced a change at the helm during these three visits....
Read moreIn short, there’s nothing about this place that’s horrible but there’s also nothing that’s very impressive. A very standard place and a confident 3 stars. We had one member of our party who showed up 15 minutes early and asked to put our names in, but the hostess said she was not allowed to put a name in unless the whole party was present. When we arrived she said we would have to wait 15 minutes for them to clear a table and get it ready… really seems like it would have been easier for everybody involved if they could have just listened to the first member of my party when he told them we were coming but whatever, probably a stupid policy by the owners and not the hostess’ fault. Once we were actually seated the service was good and our waitress was very polite and fairly on top of things.
The food is overpriced in my opinion. Most of the main seafood entrees are around $40 with some in the high 20’s and things like fish & chips for $22. Portions are fine but there’s just nothing about the food that’s mind blowing and warrants the higher than average price tag. That being said there was nothing wrong with it either, all tasted fine and the seafood seemed fresh. Chowder and clam cakes are exactly the same as the normal Iggy’s and came out nice and hot. They also have a pretty good bar which I included a photo of and a REALLY nice outdoor area with an additional bar that you can sit at when the weather permits.
Overall, if you’re in the mood for seafood in the area and have the money this is a perfectly fine choice and you won’t leave hungry. A little better service, little better food, little lower price and it would be a...
