Mandeez Restaurant, Warwick, Rhode Island A Hidden Gem of Yemeni-Mediteranean Hospitality and Flavor ❤️
Located in an unassuming part of the city, this authentic restaurant delivers a culinary experience that is both rich in tradition and soulfully satisfying!
The warm, aromatic embrace of slow-cooked spices, cardamon, and the unmistakable scent of freshly baked bread greeted all guests who entered. “Fahsa”, a bubbling stew, was served in a sizzling stone bowl with lamb meat that was tender, the broth deeply flavorful, and the accompanying “Mulawah” (Yemeni flatbread) was perfect for soaking up every last drop! As it’s Saturday, we ordered “Zerbian”, a signature Yemeni rice dish infused with fragrant spices and topped with fall-off-the-bone chicken and lamb with potatoes and caramelized onions was a highlight — smoky, delicate, utterly comforting, and the portion was beyond generous!
The ambiance was simple but inviting, with traditional decor that hinted at the cultural richness behind each dish. The service was genuine and welcoming, with staff eager to explain the menu and offer recommendations.

I have visited the place now more than once and all the way from BOSTON, which speaks for itself.
If you’re looking for real, flavorful Yemeni food, this place is a must-visit. Their Mendi is incredible, perfectly cooked rice with tender, juicy meat that’s full of rich spices and aroma. The Haneez (my favorite) is another level; slow-roasted lamb that’s so soft and flavorful, it practically melts in your mouth.
And if you can go on a Saturday, don’t miss their special: the Zurbian. It’s only served once a week and absolutely worth the trip—fragrant rice layered with perfectly seasoned meat (chicken or lamb), cooked with so much care and flavor. It’s easily one of the best dishes I’ve had at Yemeni Restaurants.
The staff at Mandeez are welcoming and kind, and the space has a cozy, no-frills feel that makes the food the star. You can tell everything is made fresh and with love in this family-owned spot.
Whether you’re new to Yemeni cuisine or already a fan, Mandeez will not disappoint. Come hungry, you’ll leave happy and already planning...
Read moreThe word “Mandi” always makes my heart (and stomach) happy. It’s comfort food at its finest—fluffy rice and tender lamb cooked just right. So when my family and I walked into Mandeez, I was excited but also a little nervous. Would it live up to the memories? From the moment we were greeted, my worries disappeared. The staff was warm, welcoming, and patient, which any parent with little kids will tell you is pure gold. We started with hummus and fresh bread—creamy, smooth, and the perfect way to begin. Then came the star of the show: the Mandi. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender, full of smoky, honest flavor. The rice? Light, fragrant, and just the right balance. Every bite felt like home. Before we left, the owner stopped by our table to ask how everything was. I was about to share my appreciation, but my 9-year-old foodie daughter beat me to it: “Uncle, your food is so delicious! I’m giving you thousand stars!” Honestly, I couldn’t have said it...
