We decided to give K-Blocks Fire Pit BBQ a try for the first time and are so glad that we did!
We were surprised to find that there was no wait for a table at 6 PM on a Friday night and were seated immediately as we arrived. Our table ordered the BBQ Nachos with pulled chicken as an appetizer and thoroughly enjoyed them. The nachos came topped with jalapeno, queso, pico de gallo, lettuce, BBQ sauce, and cilantro cream. We found the nachos to be extremely tasty. Typically we don't enjoy shredded lettuce on our nachos because it usually gets wilted, but because everything warm was underneath, it worked out perfectly. We would absolutely order the nachos again.
We also tried the Brisket Tacos and the pulled pork sandwich with sides of pit beans, cornbread, and salad. The brisket tacos were delicious and the pulled pork sandwich was piled high with meat. Both were wonderful and we would be delighted to have them again. The pit beans were flavorful and we found them equally delicious, but unfortunately found the other side dishes to be not as great. The salad and cornbread felt like an afterthought; both, while okay, were nothing we would be excited to try again. The salad was just a standard side salad of lettuce, tomato, and cucumber. We felt that the salad could have benefited from some croutons or cheese, or possibly some sort of BBQ topping (bacon?). The cornbread came to the table cold and wrapped in Saran wrap as if it were made early in the day, wrapped up, and forgotten about. It would have benefited from being warmed up and served with butter. It wasn't terrible, but it did taste a bit dry and cold. We finished our meal with a shared slice of pecan pie, and let me tell you, it was out of this world. It was topped with candied pecans that were soft, big, and delicious. The pie itself was flavorful, not too sweet, and served with whipped cream. Hours later we were questioning why we didn't order a second slice to go.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at K-Blocks and would love to return. I'd suggest to management that some of the side dishes get a bit more love, as they did feel like an afterthought to the delicious BBQ. K-Blocks definitely has the BBQ down and the only improvements I can think of would be the side dishes. I'd definitely suggest giving...
Read moreAs many people who have grown up in Romeo, I was immediately in awe to see something take the spot of a restaurant closed pretty much all my life. Not gonna lie, part of ordering food was also to check out the inside.
Quick. Our order (brisket nachos, full slab of ribs , and shrimp & grits) was ready in 20 minutes. The ladies behind the counter were very friendly. The cost was extremely reasonable for the amount of food we got.
The place is cute as heck inside. Very clean and bright. Dining off to one side and a nice sized bar in the back. The decor is straight out of a country music video but not tacky. Like a very trendy cute barn wedding up north.
Shuffle board table. While I’m not comfortable dining inside yet, this is something I will remember for when the time comes. It’s a favorite of mine and hard to find in New England.
The food was chefs kiss awesome. The nachos were indeed loaded and full of flavor. The brisket on top was well worth the $3. You got a pretty big handful. It was juicy and a great compliment to all the cheese and veggies. shrimp and grits (app size) just was enough to share. The grits were oh so buttery and creamy. I will be going back just for these. THE DRY RUB ON THE RIBS WAS SO DAMN GOOD. seriously. Both BBQ sauces we got, apple and Memphis style, were delicious but the ribs didn’t even need them. They were also THICK AF. Also wicked juicy and just the right amount of fat.
Overall, I’m glad I went. As someone who rarely eats meat, I have a feeling I’ll be getting takeout any time I’m visiting. It’s worth it. And in my opinion better than a lot to other BBQ place near by. And saves me a trip down to The D for one of my other favorite spots.
It’s also great to see a place take over one of the many empty storefronts in town. Having more real food options vs fast food is nice.
I’m sorry I didn’t post photos. I had stuffed my face too quickly and...
Read moreGood thing I was in a secret shopper. I genuinely just kind of felt like my experience was mid. Mostly on the customer service side but personally the food was very admit as well. I ordered my food to go I had a couple questions and I felt like the hostess couldn't answer them and wouldn't just take the time to go find out my question. Honestly the staff didn't look very happy at all I don't know it just was a vibe I didn't enjoy. I've been here before and I really enjoyed my experience but that's been well over 2 years ago I believe. I also got macaroni with my meal the server could not give me a spoon to eat my food with and there were no napkins in the bag. I personally did not want to grab a bunch from the thing I was just hoping they would have put a couple in there especially after I mentioned it. I observe them not having a bunch of items as well. The staff just had poor body language. My personal opinion is drive up the road at this point and go to honchos they're better. I'm sorry I did like k blocks and I do feel like they have better sauces here but ultimately I feel like the food the macaroni is a better experience at honchos over this. I don't think I'll ever personally be coming back I don't know if it's because I'm just really burnt out about having a staff not be friendly or to do their job and ask questions for the customer. This isn't the only place that has been driving me crazy lately I've had multiple encounters recently not in this area this would be the first in Romeo but it's really annoying. I'm sure the rest of the food is good but I didn't even feel like finishing what I got and I genuinely didn't care if I had it for leftovers. That's not talking about the roast or anything because it's not what I got. Anyways I hope you talk to your staff and they become a little more encouraged to answer...
