Trailside Dairy — Restaurant in Washington Charter Township

This used to be our favorite ice cream place. Unfortunately, with the new owners, it has really changed...and not for the better. My "go-to" treat is a strawberry shake. The old owner used to use REAL strawberries. The new owners use fake, artificial tasting strawberry syrup which looks like pepto bismol. (confirmed by worker...they use syrup). My kid gets a medium cheesecake Alpine. The old owner used to fill it with cheesecake. The new owners....well, my kid is lucky to find 4 cheesecake pieces at the bottom. (we have also received small cups even though paying for a medium). The "No Bikes/No Dogs" signs and the sidewalk chalk dust everywhere are so uninviting. The new owner (woman) was not very friendly to me and my daughter, but she sure put a big flirty smile on her face for the young men behind us! (It was almost comical). Ya...this has been our favorite place for years. Unfortunately, its time to find somewhere new! *EDIT: In response to your reply....no need to buy me a gift card, you'll need to save your money for your legal fees! *EDIT #2: Not sure why the owners removed their original argumentative, snarky, defensive response. (Stalking my profile, really?) Maybe because it shows their true colors? (see attached screenshots). I give this place 2 years tops before they run this once loved establishment...

Lots of different issues with a business so simple. It truly amazes me on how many different errors could occur in the span of 10 minutes.

I arrived with some fellas and we were excited to endulge in some amazing dairy treats just to be extremely dissapointed in the results.

First off I wanted a strawberry cheesecake “Alpine” but they told me they were out of cheesecake. Well maybe if you were out of cheesecake you would put a sold out sticker on the menu so you wouldn’t get peoples hopes up just to disappoint. Anyways though I decided to settle on oreo. It took about 4 minutes to get my “Alpine” which it insane because I work at Dairy Queen and could be fully done with one of these in less than 60 seconds. Aside from that though, the alpine was barely blended. All of the oreos were in one side of the alpine and I had to literally mix it by my hand to be able to enjoy it.

My problems weren’t even the worst though. My buddies I tagged along with had it worse than I did. One of them got a MEDIUM strawberry malt and when he looked back at his purchases on his card they literally charged him for a large. My other friend wanted pretzel bites and they told him they didn’t even have any and “that they don’t even know why they are on the menu.” Kinda ridiculous and I’m not sure how this place can even profit with...

Wow - what a great place - and great and caring staff! Last week I was out visiting my brother and stopped by for a chocolate malt. (yes they have malt mix, and the chocolate malt was GREAT!)

What I really want to express is the GREAT customer service! (and I do not think the staff was prompted by management to perform this, since I did not see the owner present at this time. )

Ok, so I order my malt, the we suddenly have a squall of a tropical rainstorm - I am waiting for my item to be prepared but there is no way I can wait for it, since I am drenched from head to toe and it is just getting worse.

So I go back to my car, and move the car a bit closer to the building (near the handicapped space so I can run back in if the rain lets up to get my item.) The rain is NOT letting up.

All of a sudden, a young lady runs out in the rain to my car with my order! OMG what great customer service.

I was so impressed after I finished my drink, I went back to the window to tip my runner.

I hope the owner sees this and does reward his staff for actions like...
