I really wanted to like this place and was excited to try the food. We live walking distance and I love to support local and the shop looks so cute..... i gave it 2 stars cause the kid that took our order was sweet and its a clean place. But the food was so bland underseasoned and not at all what i was expecting. I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup and my bf ordered the penne with braised beef. You would think you couldn't mess up grilled cheese but they managed to there was more onions then cheese on my sandwich.... no cheese pull at all. The tomato soup tasted like marinara and infact my bf pour some on his extremely dry penne that had over cooked noodles and no sauce. Beside my soup they gave me a piece of dry unbuttered toast... what?! The same for the bread on my bfs plate. No butter. Then my side of greens was just that. A side of spring mix with little to no balsamic or parm. I don't know who the people are on here saying the food is good. Apparently they don't like food with flavor. This restaurant is a shining example of "white people food" no seasoning on anything. My advice is put some cheese on the grilled cheese at the least and butter the bread.... or give butter on the side, who wants dry toast besides people that are sick?! And put some balsamic on the salad... So disappointed. We paid and tipped and didn't complain but definitely felt like we wasted our...
Read moreI've had a great time the two other times I came here. Today, I came here at 7:20 (40 minutes before they closed) for a sandwich and a beer. A guy that I've never seen greeted us with "we close at 8. Dining in? Take a seat." We ordered a beer, then we never had a server come by again. We were studiously ignored (all eye contact avoided. If they accidentally glanced at our table, they fully turned away from us). We tried to get our server's attention for 25 minutes before we gave up and went to pay for our beer. When we went to pay, we asked the man who greeted us what time the kitchen closed (because we hadnt had this kind of experience before), and he said "we usually stop serving hot food at 7:30, especially if we've had a hard day."
I get the frustrations of food service, but that was no reason to actively ignore us until we left. We would have been satisfied with them telling us the kitchen was closed/closing. The whole experience was a real shame.
I don't know if I'll go back, but I'll post an update if I do, and my experience changes.
UPDATE: we went across the street to Farelli's, and apparently, the employee is a known problem. The bartender saw us come from across the street and asked why we left, then said, "Was it the tall guy with the dark, curly hair?" He's got a reputation for sending business...
Read moreI had gone here multiple times with great experiences every time. Tonight, I went in with looking to relax and unwind from work with my book, charcuterie, and wine. Clearly, their employees don’t know how well sound travels in the restaurant, or maybe they just thought I was out of ear shot. Unfortunately, I heard two employees talking loudly about how stupid it is to come to a restaurant to just order a wine sampler and meat/cheese boards (I ordered 2 from the happy hour menu), and how it’s “like coming to a restaurant and ordering a bowl of Cheetos, it’s so dumb”. This continued on for several minutes, and if I could hear loud and clear, I am sure the others in the restaurant could too. I paid and left right away. Upon calling to inform a manager for future customers, I was immediately cut off and could not even tell her what they had said, and was told I should have said something when I was there. I was honestly in complete shock. Needless to say I will not...
