Ordered rock fish, which was $75. Thought that was kinda pricey, but considering the ratings were high I said WTH. I ordered takeout, which I was told will be ready in 25-30 min. I arrived in forty and food still wasnt prepared, found that odd noticing the place only had 6 customers all to have seemingly completed their meals. Since there was a wait I decided to have a drink at the bar, the tender with the eye glasses was pretty cool, although the actual server was acting odd. Never acknowledged me, even while serving my order, he never looked me in the eye's. He asked the bar tender wht was my order, went into the kitchen and I noticed both chefs coming to the double door's window to take a gander at me, I found that to be odd. I was the only customer in the restaurant, the others were seated outside. Once home i begun to eat my food and notice my bread was burnt and my fish had the unmistakably gritty texture of dirt or gravel in the food. Although I'd only taken a few bites of food I noticed I started to feel bloated & full quit rapidly. I didn't complete the meal & was awaking at 3AM with my stomach doing things it never did in my 40 years of living. At this vary moment I'm writing this my stomach has a burning sensation and I'm gassy, emitting a smell thts unfamiliar. I pray I'm not poisoned. If things don't get better by the morning I'll be going to the emergency room and will give an update. In tht case, I do have the remaining food saved so I'll be having a...
Read morei came in with a friend while visiting DC. we loved our food, everything was amazing. loved the homemade chips (it came with more but we were munching!). i dont remember the name of this dish but SO GOOD.
we came in around 5:15pm and happy hour ended at 5:30pm. so we got sat, waited, ordered drinks (that were put on happy hour), waited more, and then literally as soon as it’s 5:30pm, our server comes over and when we ask, the server says we cant order food on happy hour. so in 15 minutes, we got two drinks and did not have a chance to order food.
i think there may have been the one server only but unsure. he was running back and forth occasionally but other times, didnt look super busy. it was empty inside besides maybe one or two other tables and a few people outside so i wasnt sure if he was overwhelmed or what truthfully. my friend and i have both worked in food service so we’re always empathetic but it was super frustrating to sit for so long and not be able to order food. it genuinely almost felt intentional but maybe it was just poor timing or the kitchen was busier than it seemed.
overall, i recommend you eat here most definitely, the food didnt disappoint at all. but if you want to get the happy hour deals, come in with ample...
Read moreHave been to this neighborhood restaurant about 10x. Found out that the owner used to work at Estadio, my favorite restaurant in DC that is no longer in business, after the first few visits. Our favorite dishes are: the whole rock fish (I have strong craving for this fresh and flavorful dish from time to time), octopus (tender and has a slight char), mussels (don’t forget to ask for bread to soak up that flavorful broth), scallops (seared to perfection and perfect with the squid ink risotto), risotto (so creamy and the cilantro sauce is dreamy), cauliflower (slight char blended with the tanginess & olive oil), shishito peppers, and basque cheesecake. Dishes I don’t recommend: mushroom (a watery dish with soft boiled egg, weird) or pork belly with bok choi. Drinks here are strong and you’ll get your...
