Canopy Central Cafe And Bar — Restaurant in Washington

Feels like this place trying hard to be a boujee waterfront view restaurant, but can't back it up - though they will charge you like it!

Came here for Brunch on a Sunday. Wasn't too crowded. Huevos Rancheros was fresh but disappointing, felt like it was missing seasoning and other key ingredients (I added the black pepper in my photo)... the fried chicken sandwich was good, leading me to believe you have to order the right thing here to be satisfied.

Waiter was new, but honestly unhelpful outside of getting us our food and check. We asked to move to a bigger table to fit our party (note we had a reservation), but despite speaking with the waiter and hostess, we weren't able to move due to "reservations" at other tables. There were literally dozens of empty tables around us. Throughout our whole time there (1.5hr), tables remained empty.

Something to mention is that the bathroom is actually outside of the restaurant as well, past the main lobby of the hotel(?) entrance.

I don't usually write bad reviews, but I felt disrespected. Pair that with a disappointing entree and here we are....

Our group of 3 visited Canopy to celebrate our friend's birthday and we had a fantastic time! Josue was our waiter and he did a wonderful job explaining the menu, our brunch options, and made outstanding recommendations! Josue and Oscar were truly remarkable wait staff and went above and beyond to ensure we had an amazing time celebrating at Canopy; they were professional and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Thanks to their remarkable customer service we look forward to patronizing Canopy again! In addition to the wonderful service we received, the food was delicious and the ambience was lovely! We would highly recommend the steak tacos and Big Mic. We sat outside and the day could not have been more perfect: bright, sunny and overlooking the Potomac (what a view!). We had such a great experience we even spoke to the manager, Michael, to share our remarks. We cannot wait to visit again and hope to see Josue and Oscar! Thank you for making our time at...

I would have loved to try this place out but unfortunately we were unable to. When we got there no one was at the host stand and there were a few people standing around. I saw some staff members but none of them even acknowledged us. I did finally go up to someone to ask what the process was and she was nice and said she would get a table ready but offered no explanation for what was going on.

I assume they were short staffed and this was probably out of the ordinary for them but with the number of people just standing around and not knowing what was going on, someone should have at least came out to explain, which didn’t happen.

We waited a little bit longer and a table still wasn’t set. Most times we would have been ok with a wait but we had to get somewhere so we decided to leave.

The restaurant is gorgeous and I would love to try it in the future. I just hope the staffing...
