Island Time Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Washington

I was drawn to this place because it was on the water. When we got there, many of the tables were “reserved” for a party from 2-4. We got there around 2:30 and all of the reserved tables were empty. The rest of the non-reserved tables were full. What is frustrating is that most people in the party who reserved the tables were standing. But we witnessed a manager shoo a couple away who happened to sit at a reserved table. Even though 90% of them were still empty. It was dumb.

We ordered drinks and a lobster roll after waiting in line for about 10 minutes, and managed to find two seats between two random couples. We were entirely too close for comfort. After eating quickly to get away from this awkward situation, we went inside where seats were available. There was clearly no AC going on a 95^ day. I went up to the inside bar to grab one last drink and asked the man if I could order a drink there. He asked, “what kind of drink?”, where I hesitated and said, “a mixed one?” It was incredibly awkward. Even though he had a whole bar behind him, he said he could only take food orders because he “didn’t have the means to make drinks.” Which was so untrue. If he didn’t want people moving inside and outside to order drinks (the outdoor bar did have a line), he could have just said that. Hosted a Birthday Party here for my wife recently and we couldn't be happier with our experience. I booked the place sight-unseen just based on my conversations with Bruce (GM). He was extremely accommodating and his staff was amazing. Got a little worried when there was a possible lack of tables for the party as the place was a little busier than we expected, but Bruce assured us that there would be- He was right, we were good. The food and beverages were excellent and the setting is quite unique. People were having a good time and libations were flowing, so when it came time to settle up the tab, I was fearing that I could possibly need to max out my credit card on this one, but I was pleasantly surprised.

This is an interesting venue on the water. The drinks are great and the bar tenders do a great job. The sangria is a favorite of ours. The menu is traditional bar food and I have never been dissatisfied. You can get healthy food if you try but it's not easy. The pizza is particularly good. You have to go to the bar to order and they bring your food to your table. It is not my favorite system but they make it work. The staff is friendly and helpful. The venue itself is spectacular. It is right on the river and next to the marina. You can bike here if you choose so. They have beautiful trees to sit under, and it feels like you're having drinks in a park. The breeze off the water keeps it comfortable even on hot days. All in all this is a very nice place to spend an afternoon with friends. I have never been here when it was not at least...
