The George Mason Memorial is a small, peaceful site just a short walk from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial—worth a quick stop if you're already in the area. The best way to access it is by parking in Lots A, B, or C on Ohio Dr. SW, then walking under the George Mason Memorial Bridge. It’s easy to reach and doesn’t take much time to explore. The memorial features a large statue of George Mason seated under a small pergola. There's also a small reflection pond with a fountain that was off when I visited. While the setting is mostly quiet, be aware of nearby traffic noise and airplanes overhead, which can disrupt the otherwise calm vibe. There’s not a lot to see, but it offers a moment of reflection and a partly shady spot to rest—especially if you're already visiting the nearby monuments.

Very easy to miss/forget with the other giant memorials in the DC area. The is a really well done memorial it is one of my favorites. I will say it does tend to be neglected a bit with broken dirty benches, untrimmed hedges, and a sort of raggity feel. It does not feel up to par with the other national monuments in the area which is why I recommend everyone to go show support for the nice little park. It does have it's upsides if you were one of the people like me who walked everywhere it is a great place to stop and rest and admire the DC area from afar. Before making your way back to the mall area. Overall I would recommend you make your way here but make sure you stop to see the Jefferson on the way.

Other reviews talk about it not being well kept, that wasn't the case on our visit. The fountain was drained for winter, but they were filling it. It is surrounded by beautiful Jane Magnolias. Parking lot was very close, was right on the path to the Jefferson Memorial. Don't overlook this one. It is also a wonderful place to start a lood around to all of the Monuments and be able to finish where you parked. Greatplace if you're looking for a quiet beautiful outdoor spot.

When George Washington calls George Mason 'the wisest man of our generation' I take notice. When Thomas Jefferson calls George Mason a mentor. I wonder why I have not noticed this superhero of the creation of the United States before. I admit my history may not be at a scholarly level, however this man is really important. His contributions helped form this country. The memorial is small and diminutive by comparison to Jefferson's huge prominent monument. The George Mason Memorial is tiny compared to the Washington Monument that is an always visible part of the DC skyline. Interesting, so very interesting. This man will be a part of my historical research as I gain a few more insights into the creation of...
