The George Mason Memorial is a small, peaceful site just a short walk from the Thomas Jefferson Memorial—worth a quick stop if you're already in the area.
The best way to access it is by parking in Lots A, B, or C on Ohio Dr. SW, then walking under the George Mason Memorial Bridge. It’s easy to reach and doesn’t take much time to explore.
The memorial features a large statue of George Mason seated under a small pergola. There's also a small reflection pond with a fountain that was off when I visited.

I wonder why I have not noticed this superhero of the creation of the United States before. I admit my history may not be at a scholarly level, however this man is really important. His contributions helped form this country. The memorial is small and diminutive by comparison to Jefferson's huge prominent monument. I will say it does tend to be neglected a bit with broken dirty benches, untrimmed hedges, and a sort of raggity feel. It does not feel up to par with the other national monuments in the area which is why I recommend everyone to go show support for the nice little park. It does have it's upsides if you were one of the people like me who walked everywhere it is a great place to stop and rest and admire the DC area from afar. Before making your way back to the mall area. Overall I would recommend you make your way here but make sure you stop to see the...
