I love this park - it's a far enough distance from where I live that it's a nice long walk without being too terribly long. There's lots of well-kept restrooms if you need them as well as convenient parking and multiple soccer fields. Beyond that, it's a great place for bird watching!
Access-wise, it's pretty good as well. There are staircases, but you can avoid them if needed. The stairs are also fairly shallow and so aren't terrible to get up and down. Many of the walking paths are some kind of paved, so it is mobility aid friendly. I don't believe the restrooms have automatic doors, though, so that access may be tough.
Overall this park is lovely. If you want to stay socially distanced, try to go during the mid morning or mid afternoon, as it is a popular workout spot before and after work. (My favorite are mornings, as they're quiet and great for...
Read moreProbably one of the best kept secrets in arlington. Fantastic aquatic center. Really nice because there's an entirely separate olympic size lap pool and children's pool play area. And what a children's pool play area it is. I can see why there are so many families and so many children that use this facility. As a kid I would have loved it and it would have been affordable for my parents. There is a gym upstairs that is quite large, all of the equipment is very new and it is clean and nice. So far the staff have been kind and responsive.
The only downside I can give you has to do with the women's Locker rooms. I did not experience it firsthand obviously but I'm told there are lots of children in there getting changed with their moms and many awkward glances between young boys and women getting undressed. I'm not sure how one...
Read moreHere you walk a concrete boardwalk next to a busy railroad track, athletic field, and airport. There is little tree cover, but excellent views of the Capitol and the airport. Arguably one of the best views of the Washington monument because it is far enough to appreciate but close enough to rise up in the distance on the walk. Airport distance is perfect for take offs and landings without excessive noise.
A small but innovative playground boasts a covered hill, slide and tunnel, an open course of hills and water misters, and a unique climbing structure.
There are enough soccer fields for a tournament, which means plenty of room to spread out for a pick-up game. This is not a place to come for a short, shaded walk without sunscreen. But for those looking to add a mile or two to their jog, it is a great stop to add to a...
