I've been to Lounge of Three at least four times for the Karaoke. I would have "checked in" but the Internet service is very spotty in this bar and that did not make me happy. The owner was cool though, he tried to connect me wirelessly to his network but forgot his password. He's going to need to work that out by the time I return. Still, nice of him for trying.
OK, on to the review. Lounge of Three is s a very small spot with a cool little vibe. I don't want to say it's a hole in the wall but it is so small I'm going to have use that analogy to describe the tight fit in this place. Now I know why there are often lines to get in... not because it's so popular (or maybe it is) but more because it's so darn small.
Size aside, I love the decor (red and black being my favorite colors) and the cozy feel. Downstairs is an extensive bar... everything from Grey Goose, Patron tequila and Coconut Ciroc (it's the "new thing") but no Vanilla Absolute or Hanger Vodka which didn't make me happy. Side bar tip- Vanilla Absolute and ginger ale tastes just like an adult cream soda... try it... you'll like it. Hanger Citron is so smooth you can drink it on the rocks.
Downstairs was a nice mix of Hip Hop music. Upstairs was karaoke which is featured on Tuesday nights. It's done by the same guy who produces karaoke Fridays at The Meeting Place on 17th street. I'll say they have better singers at Lounge of Three and there's more audience participation than at The Meeting Place. In fact, it seemed like a mini talent show and it was BIG fun. But I'm going to emphasis, one more time, how small this place is because if you are attempting to bring a large party... well... you will be the ENTIRE party.
The food was OK... your typical bar food. As for the music, they have been billed as the best hip-hop spot in DC and while I love hip hop, I'm going to pass on their Wu-Tang Clan Friday happy hours. The bar is close to the metro and just on the outskirts of the newly gentrified part of U Street. But more renovations are making their way to their block and it will be part of the socio-cultural changes in no time.
I'm going to say I'm a fan for now but I really need a to test out more food items and check out their DJ. Since this bar is in my immediate neighborhood I'm sure I'll be back for a...
Read moreRead moreMy fiancé and I stumbled on this spot randomly on a Tuesday night. We heard old school/R&B playing in the background. Come to find out it was Karaoke night. This place was delightful. I appreciate the sweet and friendly bartender, the female manager was very accommodating, and the guy who set us up with the hookah was hella nice. Inside is the main bar, upstairs was low key, but we ended up going outside. They have outside seating that is covered, provided with, tables, chairs, heat lamps. It's tight, but comfortable. That's where they had the Karaoke in this long "shed" I guess you could call it in front of the building next to the sidewalk. We just drank shots and drank beer. Lol we didnt eat, so i'm not sure if they serve food outside. We came to "sing". Overall, we had a blast. The music was dope, service was great. Good vibes. I really can't say this enough--- the staff working on 1/25/22 made the experience a great one and...
Lounge of III is a 90's neo-soul/ hip-hop club that celebrates the golden-era of hip-hop. It quickly became my 'Cheers' with DeeJays NickTha1Da (one of my favs) spinning there about 2 times per week. Drinks specials are always proper ($4 margaritas and chicken wings) and their Tuesday Karaoke is weekday staple in the upstairs steeple. Although a bit small, the staff makes you feel at home and every item on the menu is incredible! Their chicken wings and mac and cheese are legendary and go down smooth while watching your favorite sports team on one of their numerous flat screens. It's also located directly across the street from the U-Street Metro on the Green Line...
