We came here because it is close to the nature center. It's clear that it's a neighborhood spot because we were not the only family with a kid in the restaurant!
We were immediately seated and given water. The restaurant is pretty small, but it seemed like the staff moved quickly. We never felt rushed (there was no wait), but service was prompt. Definitely 5 stars there.
We ordered tots for my son. My husband got a burger and I ordered the fried catfish sandwich. As soon as I ordered it, I had second thoughts. I'm from Texas. I know what good fried catfish should taste like. Would it stack up this far north? I had hopes, but knew it probably wouldn't.
The tots were on point. I was glad that there were leftovers and we were able to take them home. They were perfectly fried and delicious.
My husband loved his burger. Raved about it. If you come here, get a burger. You won't be disappointed.
You may be disappointed if you get the catfish sandwich. When I first saw it, I thought, "Oh gosh, this thing is burnt or was cooked in old oil... or maybe it's over seasoned."
It was none of those things. It was bland and I have no idea why the breading is so dark and basically tasteless (its the piece that is so dark it almost looks like bacon). The tots and side salad made up for it, but I was unimpressed. I have a feeling it was a fluke as other people seemed to polish off their plates. There were several people who were clearly frequent flyers. The food and service are good. But I'd probably try something else. Or roll the dice and hope that my experience was mine alone.
All in all, worth returning to for sure. It looks like they have a nice patio for those gorgeous spring days. If you're undecided on where to eat, try here.

Read moreWe had a poor experience at this restaurant, unfortunately. Our waitress, Whitney, was very rude to us and the food was just not great. My boyfriend ordered a smash burger, but it wasn’t a smash burger at all. The patty was not smashed; it was more of a medium-sized patty. The burger patty was simultaneously overcooked, dry, underseasoned, and lacked any sear (which is characteristic of a smash burger). We got a to-go box regardless.
Our waitress, Whitney, was incredibly rude. She brought us a comically small container, and when my boyfriend said, “I don’t think I can fit the burger in here,” she replied, “Why don’t you try, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll bring another one,” then stormed off. When she returned, he tried to politely explain that the burger was severely overcooked and not a smash burger. He really was polite about it too. She was so rude that I was shocked by the experience. She slapped her hand on her leg, threw her hand in the air dramatically, interrupted him, and said, “Well, that’s the way we’ve always done it here, so if you don’t like it, maybe don’t order it next time,” before storming off again.
The entire time, she was dismissive and displayed annoyance at anything we asked, including questions about my food allergies. We paid $24 for a dry burger and a side of fries. Our terrible customer service obviously made the whole dinner disappointing. I also paid to have chicken added to my salad, and it was very dry as well. We were really excited to try this place. First impressions matter, and unfortunately, we will not be back due to the terrible burger and the poor customer service we received...
Read moreWe were absolutely thrilled to work with Jess at Moreland’s Tavern for our wedding rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks. Jess was fantastic from start to finish, helping us create the perfect event and menu while staying within our budget. The upstairs of the restaurant was set up beautifully for our party, complete with a photo slideshow of us playing on the TVs, which added a nice personal touch.
The dinner was delicious, and our rehearsal dinner guests couldn’t stop talking about how amazing the roasted chicken was! After the sit-down dinner, Jess and her team seamlessly transitioned the space into a more casual area where the rest of our guests could mix and mingle, complete with an open bar and light snacks.
The bartenders, Jess and Max, were absolute pros—our guests certainly kept them busy and they did an amazing job keeping us and everyone happy throughout the night.
Jess and the team at Moreland’s Tavern made our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks unforgettable. As our neighbors up the street, we are so glad Moreland’s was a part of our wedding weekend as a favorite neighborhood spot we can revisit again and again. We highly recommend them for anyone looking for a great event venue with...
