Came here on a Saturday night with a group of four. I know Pho House recently opened, and we were looking for something quick and easy given the rest of Florida Ave was booked to the max and bumping. The outside looks like it may be a hole in the wall (the building was previously empty for a while), but when we stepped in we were surprised to see it well lit up and moderately busy with young couples and groups of families with youths. The server had us sit anywhere, but were quick to come out to us and get our orders.
We split pork and veggie rolls for the table, and each got our own entree (with myself ordering Pho #2). The rolls came out quickly and were tasty and enjoyable. We didn't have to wait long for the Pho to come out after. The Pho was served with a huge plate of sprouts and lime for the table, with condiments already there.
Overall I enjoyed my Pho, as did the rest of my table enjoy theirs. One of my friends got a Banh Mi, and were also happy with the sandwich. While for me it wasn't the best Pho I had in DC, I would come back again. I would certainly recommend stopping by here if you are in Shaw looking for a sit-down, relatively low-cost and low-frill bite away from the hectic-ness that can be Florida Ave...
Read moreI placed a pick up order on a Sunday night it was ready very fast. We got two banh mi’s and fried shrimp dumplings. The fried shrimp dumplings were delicious and crispy. The fillings of the banh mi were also very good, the daikon and carrots were fresh and had a great taste. Unfortunately, (probably because we ordered at an off peak time) the banh mi bread was stale. I would definitely return at a more popular time. I’m so happy to see this place open up in the neighborhood- wishing them lots of luck and hope to support them more in the future. I saw they have boba now so I have to return soon to try it out!
edit: we’ve been back twice since then. we tried the pho and got banh mi’s again. the bread was completely different! it was fresh and just generally so much better than the bread before! the grilled pork and veggies were...
Read moreI was feeling under the weather and really wanted some pho so I did some research and decided on this spot. Upon entering it was completely empty and very dim inside. I stood for a few minutes and started to pace a bit past a doorway that said employees only. I saw a shadow and I assumed they finally noticed there was a customer present, meaning me. A few moments later someone finally comes from the back to greet me and take my to go order. He was very kind and accommodated my request to have the Pho Sate made with chicken only. I also ordered the fried shrimp dumplings which were very delicious and the sauce that came with them was sweet with just the right amount of spice. The pho was great as well and a very good portion size. I will visit again although I wish they were a bit...
