Not all is what it seems at Capo Italian Deli. At first glance, it's a quaint Italian deli off of Florida Avenue in Shaw. You walk in and any product you'd want from Italy is there from salami to Italian soda to chips. The staff is friendly and will recommend the top hot or cold subs.
Once you get your food and pay, there's a plastic bar stand for you to enjoy your food while you stand. I ordered the chicken parm and ordered it large. It was HUGE! I was hungry and only finished 5/8 of the sandwich. My friend ordered the Capo cold sub small and it was the perfect size. Both sandwiches were good, not the best in DC, but good, and for the price, it's a good meal! If you enjoy soda, try the clementine soda from Ital. It's so good!
If you dig a little beyond the deli, you'll learn of one of DC's hidden speakeasies. To the left of the cash register is what looks like a walk in freezer. Really, it's a large speakeasy. When the red light is on, you can go in...if you're on the list (called "The Reserve"). I'll leave it to you to use Google to find a way onto the list. Once on, you'll receive an email on Thursdays with info on getting in on...
Read moreGO! You won't regret it! After a dinner at RPM, we went to check out a couple of clubs. First stop BRIXTON, I felt like the oldest person in the bar but we had a great time, then we headed over to the Speakeasy. I think there may have been a password but some of our friends were already there. I haven't tried the food so I have no idea on that note. The deli is fully operational though and the staff was super friendly as we walked in. The door to the speakeasy looks like a freezer door.
We walked in and the decor is adorable, chic no terribly upscale or fancy but fine for a decent night out. The ambiance was great and we really enjoyed our time. We came in and the music was a bit from the 90s but they took requests from #TheKlatchets and before we knew it they were playing some good ole classics - Bodak Yellow and Migos. LOL! Enjoy! I am sure you will have a great time. Their bar is fully stocked, Im a huge wine fan and wish they had more options but the bartender hooked me up with a fresh bottle of Rosé - WIN! GO! You will love it! We sure did!

Read moreWent in with my boyfriend for lunch. Both of us are Italian sandwich enthusiasts because of our love for charcuterie. We were immediately greeter by Brian, the owner. He made us feel welcome and answered all of our questions. He told us the story about how they got their bread just the way he wanted it (the bread was amazing btw). He let us sample one of the spicy, stuffed cherry peppers (also amazing). We got the 1st cold sandwich on the menu and it did not disappoint. I'm sad we weren't heading home because I wanted to buy some of their cold antipasti and perhaps some hot pasta items to go. I'm writing this review because I was looking for the name of this magical place so I could return tonight before they close. I noticed someone gave them a 1 star review and just had to write a review of my own to rectify it. I'm ecstatic that this place is in the neighborhood. Come in and be enlightened to everything they have to offer. Just don't come in when you're in a big rush; they slice and make each sandwich to order. Masterpieces take time, people! It's...
