Our server Dagoveito was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. The food and service was exceptional. He made our dining experience a memorable one.
While others were deciding on what to drink, I decided to have the 801 Hot Toddy, which consisted of cider with Jack Daniel's whiskey, mulled spices, honey, and lemon. This was the first time I had a hot toddy. It reminded me of a spiked cider or mulled wine. It was delicious and right up my alley. It's the perfect drink during the winter time especially on a cold night.
Our party enjoyed a Steak Frites, Blackened Shrimp Linguine, Pan Seared Salmon, 801 Burger, and Seafood Risotto.
The Steak Frites consisted of 10oz grilled top sirloin steak served with bourbon demi-glace, seasonal veggies, and house hand-cut fries. The steak was cooked to perfection and quite flavorful without the demi-glace.
The Blackened Shrimp Linguine consisted of linguine cooked with blackened shrimp, chicken sausage, cherry tomatoes, and onions in a delicious yellow tomato cream sauce and garnished with scallions. I liked how dish had a kick to it but it wasn't overkill.
The Pan Seared Salmon was served with lemon-ginger rice and charred broccolini in a herb emulsion. It was garnished with freshly grated herb. The salmon was fresh and quite tasty.
The 801 Burger consisted of maple pecan bacon, sautéed onions, fontina cheese, 10oz wagyu beef patty, and bibb lettuce served on a toasted sweet brioche bun. It was served with hand-cut fries with ketchup and pimento aioli on the side. The burger was juicy and tasty. It was one of the best burgers I had in awhile.
The Seafood Risotto consisted of arborio rice cooked with jumbo shrimp, calamari, lobster, arugula, roasted tomato, and marscapone. If you love seafood, I highly recommend this dish.
We decided to end our meal on a sweet note - with Warm Beignets. Despite each order typically coming with four pieces, the server was able to add another piece to the order so that everyone in our party could savor the moment. They weren't quite fried "pillows" but rather fried cinnamon rolled donut like balls. They were served with marshmallow ice cream with three kinds of sauces - bourbon caramel, raspberry coulis, and chocolate ganache. Among the three condiments, I enjoyed the raspberry...
Read moreThis was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. We arrived as walk-ins (not a reservation) and were seated without being informed of any time limit. After being there for approximately an hour and 20 minutes, we were told we’d need to vacate the table soon because it was needed for a party with a reservation.
A young female server (possibly Hispanic or Mexican) informed us there was a two-hour limit on tables, and that most guests usually adhere to it. This was news to us.
When I asked to speak with the manager, he explained that the two-hour limit is typically communicated to guests with reservations. I reminded him that we were walk-ins and had not been told anything about this policy. He checked the system and returned to say we had about 30 minutes left.
To make matters worse, we had ordered bottomless mimosas, and the server refused to bring another bottle of champagne because they “needed the table.” The manager eventually did bring us another bottle but reiterated that our time was nearly up.
When I jokingly mentioned I would leave a Google review, the manager responded dismissively, saying he didn’t care because he had already received many. That level of unprofessionalism was shocking.
This entire experience felt rushed, inconsiderate, and poorly managed. Had I known we’d be treated like this, I never would have chosen this place. Absolutely...
Read moreI came here for brunch and overall, it was a good experience. The bottomless deal is probably one of the best I've seen, so I would recommend 801 for a boozy brunch experience. It's $16 a person (plus the price of your entree) and you get to mix your own mimosas at the table, which means you don't have to worry about watered down drinks or slow drink service. They give you several kinds of mixers too, so if you don't like the orange kind, you have options and the champagne is not super cheap, so I didn't have a headache after the fact. Everyone also doesn't have to partake, so if someone doesn't want to drink, they can still brunch. Love it. The service was also good. They were obviously understaffed for the crowd but the servers did their best. They were also nice and had a good attitude, despite being so rushed. I had to take a star off for my visit though because it was so damn loud in there. The dining room is cute but the acoustics were horrible. Like we had to scream at each other across the table until some people left and it got quieter. Also I had an omelette and it was pretty underseasoned, which was disappointing. Portion sizes were good, though. Overall, I would come back again. It's definitely best for a group or party brunch, not for something cute and intimate, but it is a good time. Next time, I'll probably go for the roof. It's quieter up...
