Bad experience! I recently received an email promoting black own businesses so my wife and I went to check out fish scale for a quick bite to eat before we went to pick up our son at 3:00pm.
We entered the restaurant at 1:00pm. The wait was 45 minutes. At 2:10pm they brought out my wife sandwich with no side. Her crab burger had little to no crab meat and was overpowered by the garlic pesto with frozen ice chips in it.
At 2:20pm I still did not receive my food and my wife side was finally ready so at this point we canceled the order and asked for a refund. There was no reason to sit and watch us eat separately because that would defeat the purpose of eating together.
After a brief exchange of words at the cash register we received a refund but was ask to support black businesses. I'm all for supporting black businesses thus the reason I drove 20 minutes from MD to DC plus paided for parking just to support but let's be honest just because it's a black own business still does not excuse the bad experience and ridiculously high prices for sandwiches when the service is bad.
It's one thing to pay a high price for outstanding service and food but it's another to pay it for bad service no matter if it is a black own...
Read moreWow. I’m blown away. I walked past this hole in the wall, looking diner. Desire to go in and give it a try. I had to wait to order because the person taking my orders was busy preparing food. I watched as this individual carefully crafted the meal. He gingerly placed each amount of meat and squirted it with a perfect amount of sauce. As soon as I saw him do that I said “ what is that I want it?” he told me it was the jerk cheesesteak. It was the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had in my entire entire life. It was a pleasure watching him prepare my food. I also ordered the Japanese sweet potatoes. My mouth watered watching them carefully prepare this delicious meal. This is truly a wonderful restaurant. As I was leaving, I commented that he was like a professional chef. He replied that he had gone to culinary school, and it was very obvious that he took great pride in his work. I cannot recommend this place enough. The food is wonderful. The food tastes better than it looks. If you’re in the area or within 50 miles please...
Read moreFishScale was a breath of fresh air compared to the service I have received everywhere else in the DMV area. I told the male owner it was my first time and he gave me a breakdown of the whole menu, description of the fish and how it was caught, and he was happy the entire time. I received my food in a timely manner, and it tasted great and fresh. The corn pudding was amazing and a must have side dish when you come. I came outside of peak hours, so I was able to sit comfortably, if you come during peak hours expect to have difficulty finding seating because there are two 4-seat tables and two 2-seat tables as seen in the pictures posted by the owner. The prices were comparable, in some cases lower, than similar dining experiences in the DMV, but all of their fish is fresh and they take pride in offering the best seafood available in the region. The brother and sister owners take pride in their restaurant and will keep customer service and satisfaction the number...
