Rancho Chico is a piece of Mexico nicely nestled into the corner of a major intersection in north Spokane. (The Y)
Rancho Chico appears from the outside as a pretty typical Mexican restaurant. The parking lot was fairly full (always a good sign) yet we had no problem finding parking at 7pm on a Saturday night. The interior was traditionally decorated and tightly packed with booths and tables.
We were quick seated and provided with the expected bowl of tortilla chips and salsa. Our waiter, Raphael, also brought a bowl of fresh cabbage salsa that was a quite delightful.
The menu was very extensive. Raphael helped us identify good menu options that met our dietary requirements and kids' preferences. My son ended up with a plate of nachos. Their basic nachos are exactly that with none of the extra stuff that kids often balk at. Decent portions of chips, meat, cheese all toasted on a plate. The portions weren't huge but appropriate for the cost. My young daughter got a kids quesadilla that came with beans and rice. The food came out about the same time that we finished our complimentary chips. It was piping hot and great portions. Our table was provided a picture of water so we could keep our own drinks full. I'm not sure if this is standard but I generally prefer it as we tend to drink a lot of water when we eat out and are often waiting for water to be refilled.
The food tasted authentic. We like to vacation in Mexico and felt like we were on vacation. Raphael worked hard to quickly meet all of our requests and again reminded us of the hard working nature of the people we have encountered in Mexico.
We will definitely be back and add it to our list of regularly visited...
Read moreWell, I gave you guys another chance, and again you dropped the ball. I think that it's time for me to find another Mexican-style restaurant. And you used to be the best. What happened! On Friday (October 5th, 2012), my girlfriend and I decided to have dinner at your N. Division location. I, per usual, ordered your T-Bone steak, mexican style. I requested that it be 'bloody'. That's not how it was served. It was past well done except, of course, right next to the bone, where I think I detected a faint pinkish tinge. Certainly NOT bloody. The only reason I ordered it 'bloody' was because of the fact that on our two previous visits, you seemed to have forgotten how NOT to burn it. On those occasions, I ordered it my usual 'medium rare', and was disappointed that my wished were ignored. Plenty of salt on it, though, also a first. The service was barely adequate. We couldn't help but notice the lack of friendliness and cheerfulness in all or our last three visits. It seemed to us that your waiters were more interested in getting the dishes off the table than anything else, which lead us to believe that we shouldn't linger. So, it's adios, amigos. It was Nice while it lasted. You WERE the best. But, I guess good...
Read moreThe huge metal and glassl chandelier bumped my 6'5" husband's forehead then fell from the ceiling and shattered cutting several places on his left arm and one on his left leg. Staff didn't seem to know what to do. They need to check their establishment for safety more carefully as it appeared the fixture was being held only by the electrical cord which broke. The wait staff did a nice job of serving, but after the fixture fell, they just disappeared and didn't even sweep up the glass. They did carry the fixture out. They didn't even ask if we needed first aid materials. There were clean napkins on the next table which we used to put pressure on the open wounds. They called the manager to return to the restaurant , but she didn't seem to know what to do. She just wanted our contact information. This happened two days ago. She kept saying she was trying to contact her insurance company. It seems odd the manager hasn't at least contacted us to...
