Not happy with my service!! I had pulled up to the drive thru, asked for a cheeseburger with only ketchup, with fries and a small soda. The man informed me that "We do not do cheese". No problem I said. Within seconds my order was ready. I was very excited to eat it but within minutes of me returning to work, I then realized why it was done so quickly. It was almost raw in the center. I showed a colleague, who agreed. I took another bite just to be sure but it was really pink and very, very thin. Basically the outside was just browned. I threw the burger in the garbage. The fries were good but I asked for ketchup packets and they were stuck together with sticky mess because a packet must have leaked and was all over the 3 packets they gave me. Definitely not worth 7 something and very glad I had gift certificates. Not sure why everyone raves about this place unless I had a bad employee or went on an off day. This was the...

Its a cute place with good friendly service but the food and space needs updating and improvements. I sat at the bar and ordered two chili dogs with fries and gravy. The food unfortunately is...mid at best; the fries and dogs tasted like what you'd get at any other cheap concession stand. No cheese on the menu too, what a bummer. Overheard construction workers ordering and asking for it. Missed $$ opportunity imo because I would've ordered cheese dogs as well. The original 1930's wooden booths, trim and hardware around the shop are interesting but the peeling and bubbling wall paint and dingy menu are signs the place is way overdue for a renovation. There was also no heat on inside, chilly dining meant I ate fast and left. I appreciate their energy for the legacy of the eatery but its a shame that same energy isn't invested back into the overall...

I don't live in Washington but if I did I would come here more often. It is always great food...I mean I get a hot dog and fried and gravy usually. There are other items tho to chose from. The staff is very polite. Waitresses are on it. The guys that make the hot dogs and burgers are in front where you can see them and wow....they are quick...and I mean quick! The guys(Im assuming) that are in back deep frying....are quick as well you get your food in a matter of minutes after ordering. They dont have many tables so obviously thats why they dont get overwhelmed and backed up. But thats not a bad thing. Its a great place...they do have a restroom you have to go through the back kitchen down a narrow and somewhat steep staircase...so if you can't do steps well I would use the restroom before or after going...thats all. Great place. Love it! Will...

I started this yesterday and then my phone froze. So here I go again. Love, love, love Shorty's Lunch!! We here in Washington PA call it Shorty's! It is uptown on Chestnut Street. I have been eating at Shorty's my whole life for about 65 years! My mom used to take me there when I was a little girl. It has wonderful ambience. Just an old fashioned restaurant with booths with high backs. The most popular food of the day with most people is a hotdog with everything which includes chili sauce, diced onions and mustard. Also fries with brown gravy! We should have taken a picture yesterday but we forgot to and it was my husband and my sister and me. If you're ever in Washington PA you must give it a try. I hope this was informative! God bless

Shorty's is a landmark restaurant in the heart of the City of Washington. Make sure you bring a few quarters as parking is on street and runs $.25/15 minutes. Truthfully, if you spend more than 15 minutes there, you're doing something wrong. The waitresses are truly some of the best I've ever seen. Don't get offended if they don't take your order down; they simply turn around and belt it out via an abbreviated and pre-planned order to the cook near the cash register and the guys in the back. Although price has constantly gone up, lunch here won't break your wallet. When I'm by myself, I'm typically spending less than $10.00, tip included. Cash only, but they have an ATM machine inside.

Okay, let’s be honest. You don’t come here for the food. Yeah, the fries are crispy and the chili dogs are decent but you instead come here because of the people. Shortys is a institution and loved by all who eat here, work here or step through the doors here for whatever reason. It’s a cheap and fast lunch and working class people in the Washington area have been coming here for generations. It’s places like this that make their hometowns unique. As long as there’s a heart here, Shorty’s will always deserve no less than 5 stars.
