Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood and Crab — Restaurant in Washington

The management at Truluk's selectively discriminates against its patrons.

My family (party of 7) dined at Truluk's on September 16th to celebrate a birthday. One of the guests in our party-- my brother, was turned away by the Manager Troy because he wore a hooded athletic top. Troy was made aware that we made the reservation through Google and that we were unaware of their dress code. Troy was unmoved. He also refused our suggestion to allow our party to be seated with my brother wearing a dinner jacket from another member of our party. As a manager Troy should have offered solutions rather than turn away a guest that was willing to make accommodations to join a celebratory event with their family. It has been my experience at similar restaurants for the management to offer a dinner jacket to patrons when applicable.

As my family waited for my brother to return, we observed two tables that had guests wearing a hooded top. As you can imagine seeing management's selective enforcement of their dress code further soured our festive mood. But, we waited at my brother's request because he read guest reviews and was looking forward to the South African lobster tail.

Abidur, our server, did his best to help recover our spirits. He eloquently described each entre, suggested wines that paired well with our selected entrees and sold us on having both the South African lobster tail and Prime King Crab.

I have provided this detailed summary of our pre-dining experience because Truluk's Ocean's Finest Seafood is a restaurant that is accustomed to hosting celebratory events. Its guests choose Truluk's for the fine dining experience. Senior level managers should be mindful of how their staff participates in enhancing or tarnishing that experience.

For our family, Troy failed. He failed to demonstrate to his staff his ability to find a solution for guests while still adhering to their dining policies. He failed to help ensure Truluk's guests have a dining experience that encourages future patronage, and he failed to discourage my brother who looked beyond Troy's condescend to enjoy with his family what our server described as the Rolls Royce entre.

After celebrating three other occasions at Truluk’s this summer, it is unlikely that we will return. There are several restaurants in Washington DC that provide an atmosphere to complement a $992...

On February 17, 2024, I had the pleasure of dining at Truluck's Ocean Finest Seafood restaurant, following a recommendation from my son who had visited two weeks prior. From the moment we arrived, the exterior design of the building beckoned us inside with its inviting allure, earning a solid 5-star rating.

Inside, we were warmly greeted by the maitre d'. Despite not having reservations for the elegant dining section, we were graciously offered a seat at a group of tables in the bar area, further enhancing our initial impression with another 5-star rating.

Although I typically shy away from shellfish, I was delighted to find an extensive menu offering a variety of seafood, as well as options from land and scales. This diverse selection easily earns a well-deserved 5-star rating.

The ambiance inside the restaurant was truly spectacular, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. Our table server went above and beyond, providing samples of the menu items and offering detailed descriptions along with pricing information, earning yet another 5-star rating.

Following her recommendations, I decided to try the yellowtail raw fish, mashed potatoes, lobster bisque, and crab fried rice. Each dish was expertly prepared, and the flavors were simply divine. The yellowtail raw fish, in particular, was a revelation for me, and I even contemplated ordering the raw salmon to compare the two dishes, solidifying a perfect 5-star rating.

As we enjoyed our meal, we were treated to delightful entertainment by a talented one-man band, who sang, played piano, and entertained us with his musical prowess. The musical group, Wild Cherry would be proud to say, "Play that funky music whiteboy!?!" His performance added an extra layer of enjoyment to our dining experience, earning yet another 5-star rating.

My final thoughts, I am immensely grateful to my son for introducing me to Truluck's Ocean Finest Seafood. I eagerly look forward to future visits, knowing that each time, I will be welcomed into the same enjoyable atmosphere that made this dining experience truly...

Truluck's 700 K St. NW DC Ocean's finest seafood and crab! Which is a tremendously gross understatement! Which is a testament to the chefs preparing your food and making it look absolutely as beautiful as it tastes! The service is nothing short of absolutely stunning and amazing! Their motto must be to go above and beyond and create an experience that you will never ever ever forget! Dawn the general manager came out and greeted us with kindness that as long as I have lived I have never experienced and it was nothing short of amazing I have nothing but appreciation and gratitude for how good they made me feel along with my company! Everyone is on the exact same page which is to offer you an amazing and Unforgettable experience from the greeters! To my server, to the back servers in the individuals bringing you food! They check on your allergies and make sure you are going to be safe while enjoying their delectable entrees and appetizers! And the bar! What can I say absolutely freaking amazing! So much fun!
