Think of a movie with a solid script, high production value, good director, stellar supporting cast, but a downright bizarre performance from the lead role. That's the experience at Capital Burger.

From the studios of lobbyist darling Capital Grill comes a more casual, relatable adventure. The set is still rife with masculine overtones, but is better lit for all audiences. The first scene is a little jar of tangy sweet homemade pickles which were perfect as a snack, and would go beautifully on a burger. The niche role of a boozy milkshake was played to T by a velvety mixture of vanilla, rum, whipped cream, and blueberries. This performance held its own with appetizer crab and lobster cakes. They burst onto the screen with no fluff, just fresh meat, lemon, tartar sauce and griddle marks. A bit overpriced for their role, but worth it. Finally was the big dramatic scene with the juicy lead role....and it was just...

wrong.

Yeah, wrong, out of place. Like Jack Sparrow playing Jack in Titanic.

First off they actually got my burger wrong. I ordered the classic cheeseburger with Swiss cheese, mayo, lettuce and bacon. I got a Swiss cheese burger with no mayo or bacon, lettuce and tomato and a good 15 minutes after my appetizers had exited stage right. I'll chalk that open to opening weekend jitters. After the edits were made, the burger and fries were still weird. Not bad, but not right. The bun was gorgeous and eggy with enough presence to not melt into goo from the greasy burger. The burger itself was perfectly cooked and juicy (not greasy); obviously made from A-List cow parts. The cheese was...there. The bacon really ruined the scene though. The burger had a good beef flavor, but the unctiousness and salt was cut with a strong brown sugar maple sweetness. It was the bacon stealing the show! They candy their bacon. Which is lovely co-starring with some brunch classics, but really out of place on a marquee burger. The sidekick of fries also put in an odd performance. House cut and crispy in clean grease, when the plate came out I was struck by the wafting familiar tones of......Popeyes? Yeah the fries smelled like fast food chicken. This could be a plus for some people I guess? Maybe they use schmaltz in the fryer.

Overall, the burger and fries didn't put in a bad performance, just a strange one. However when you are asking the price of admission at the box office that Cap Burger is (app, shake, burger almost topped $50) you better get an Oscar winner every time.

Hopefully for the sequel, they'll blow up one of those lobster cakes to star in it's own sandwich! I'll pay $20 to see that every...

It's definitely a place I'd go to again. We had the sweetest waitress who attended to us just enough. She wasn't there too much or not enough. As you are seated, they bring you some pickles in a mason jar. At first we were surprised because we'd never seen that before. Since it was there, we tasted the pickles. They were a pleasant surprise. They tasted like a kosher pickle soaked in a vinaigrette. We ordered the truffle fries, a Capital Burger, and the Cheeseburger. You could choose fries, chips, or a Caesar Salad with your burger. We chose the Caesar Salad. Well.... they did not disappoint!!!! We ate every single piece of the Caesar Salad, it was that good. The dressing was rich and flavorful. The greens were crisp and fresh. Even the croutons were AMAZING. I got the Capital Burger, and it tasted like the best French onion soup you could buy with a burger on it. The bun was soft but still firm. It was like the bread you'd get on a French onion soup. My words just can't do it justice, I swear. My daughter got the Cheeseburger. It was seasoned well, cooked well and delicious. They put the lettuce and tomato on the side as she requested. For desert, I got the Coconut Cream Pie desert, and my daughter got the Chocolate Mousse desert. They were amazing, too. The coconut cream pie desert had toasted coconut on top of a layer of whipped cream. The filling was so flavorful. It was just the right amount of richness. The bottom was a graham cracker crumb bottom. The chocolate Mousse desert had whipped cream on top with layers of chocolate mousse with a buttery chocolate cookie crumb bottom. They were so good that we actually got one of each to go, too!! They were top desert shop quality yet only $6 each! The atmosphere was very chill and cozy. They had tall tables and chairs, short tables and chairs, booth seats, and seats at the bar. All were great. The gentleman who took your name as you entered was very friendly and thorough. At one point, a bar customer sat down to make a call at a table they had just cleared and set for a table of four guests. This gentleman at the front handled getting this other gentleman to move in a very professional manner. I was impressed. If in the DC area, definitely put this place on your list of places to try. You won't be...

Satisfying Experience at The Capital Burger 🍔🍟

Dining at The Capital Burger was an absolutely delightful experience that I am eager to recount. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was warm and inviting, perfectly setting the stage for a wonderful meal. 🌟

Our party indulged in a variety of selections from their tempting menu, beginning with the delectable bacon cheeseburgers. Each burger was crafted with precision, featuring juicy patties complemented by the rich, smoky flavor of bacon and perfectly melted cheese. The Capital Burger, a signature dish, did not disappoint either; it stood out with its harmonious blend of flavors and tender texture. 🍔

For those in our group with dietary preferences, the bacon cheeseburger with a gluten-free bun was a notable highlight. The bun held up beautifully, maintaining the integrity and taste of the classic burger experience. It’s heartening to see such considerate options available, ensuring everyone has a satisfying meal.

For our little one, the children’s grilled cheese meal was a hit. Simple yet delicious, it was a comforting choice that appealed to their taste perfectly. 🧀

What truly enhanced our dining adventure was the impeccable service. The staff was attentive and kind, ensuring our experience was seamless and enjoyable from start to finish. 🙌

In conclusion, The Capital Burger offers not just fantastic food but an overall exceptional dining experience. It’s a place I look forward to visiting again soon, and I highly recommend it to others seeking both taste and...
