READ BELOW FOR WHY ITS 1 STAR:
Absolutely LOVE their food. Love love love it. Love the staff.
Gets 1 star because I’m afraid they are making really bad business choices right now. I’m afraid my favorite place won’t be open after the COVID has passed. Not because of less seating or because of them being closed for a few months. But because they are refusing to wear masks. They have refused to make their customers feel comfortable. After it’s all said and done the businesses who haven’t made their customers the top priority in safety and comfort will be struggling. I love this place so much, but not one staff member was wearing a mask or gloves. It does not reflect well on the restaurants usual “love and care” for their customers.
Dear Joes: I love you, and sometimes tough love is apart of loving something. Its business, and In business it doesn’t matter your own personal feelings about politics or life going on. Business is business. Your customers need to feel safe and that they’re being taken care of. I know you have faith and hold onto that tightly, and that’s absolutely wondrous. However, even If faith is bigger than fear, it doesn’t mean you need to be mindless. Your own personal opinions don’t matter in business, what your customers need does. Doesn’t God teach you how to be fearless, but not to ignorantly, intentionally walk in front of the moving car in FAITH that you won’t die or be injured? I have faith, and abundance. I know where I stand, and I know you feel that way too. But I’m not going to encourage people to walk into a severe storm either, and feel they won’t be struck by lightning. No one would ask you not to have faith, but with faith in business you need to use common sense. Im begging you- please just make your customers feel more at ease.
Prayer does matter, and it DOES work in the success of your business. But so does putting on a mask so you customers see you’re taking their health more seriously....

Years later, this is still one of my favorite places to eat.
Update August 2024 - Sadly, I can no longer recommend Joe's in Watauga. There has been an ownership and/or management change. Cost cutting has hit hard. Not too long ago, a friend and I could enjoy a delicious and hearty breakfast here for around $25, not including tip. Today I had breakfast with a friend and it was $35 for us to eat. All the food tasted like soggy cardboard mush, even the bacon. To be clear, I understand hard times are upon all of us and I don't mind paying more if the quality and selection are still there. But raising prices AND choosing low quality ingredients is too much for me.
The service is still adequate, but none of the friendly familiar faces are in attendance. The menu has been heavily pared down as well with maybe half the selection that previously existed.
I'm changing my overall rating from 5 stars to 2, and I feel like that might even be a stretch that takes into account my previous great experiences at Joe's. I'll have to find a new...
Read moreWe’ve had Joe’s saved on our list to do….for a while. The day finally came and we dropped by last Saturday morning around 9:30. I just knew there would be a long wait. Nope! Walked right in and greeted by some of the friendliest wait staff I’ve ever met. It’s a simple place, nothing fufu or fake. That’s what was hoping for.
Our waitress reminded me of my grandmother. Sweet, friendly and just a little bit sassy. In a good way. What I loved about Joe’s is it’s not too complicated to figure out. Just good ole basic home cooked breakfast. So that’s what we ordered.
I got a combo with two fried eggs, sausage, ham, bacon and pancakes. I even asked for some blueberries to put on the side. My wife got the smaller size but with French toast.
They made sure our coffee was hot and full and checked back on us often. Loved that!
For $15 that was the best breakfast I’ve had in a long time. Cooked to order and everything tasted great. Even the sausage was really tasty and cooked well. The pancakes were hot and fluffy.
The service is what pushed them over from 4 🌟...
