5AM Donuts is like a Wes Anderson film, but with cinnamon rolls— The pastel pink walls and perfectly arranged donut trays make you feel like you’ve walked into a whimsical donut diorama, where symmetry reigns supreme, and every pastry could have a backstory.

The cinnamon rolls are legendary. They’re as big as your face and probably the reason I’m rethinking my life choices (in a good way). If I ever get stranded on a desert island, I hope I have one of these cinnamon rolls with me—it’d be worth it.

The star of the show, though, is the sweet lady at the register. She’s like the narrator of this little donut adventure, greeting everyone with a smile that says, “You’re about to have the best morning ever.” Her stylish apron could belong in a Pinterest board for “Chic Baker Looks,” and she’s so efficient that you’ll have your donuts in hand before you’ve finished admiring the perfectly aligned donut holes.

Hands down the most friendly and lovely people in any donut shop ever, and I have been to a LOT in my time. Patient with sons hemming and hawing over what they want. Able to fill large orders easily. Order ahead for extra large orders (bought 20 dozen once for a work function) and they were ready and perfect. Even carried them out to the car for me. With large orders they give you a little something as a thank you if you are a repeat customer, at least they always have with me. Delicious on ALL the donuts, but their apple fritters and cinnamon rolls are out...

AWESOME donuts! Each one is like a sugary cloud of delicious donut heaven. I've been going there for years and the donuts are the very best you'll find. They have a fantastic variety. Glazes yeast donuts are perfect, the apple fritters are light and delicate, the cream in their eclairs are smooth and rich but without being too thick like vanilla pudding, the buttermilk donuts are delightfully tangy and the cake donuts (especially the blueberry) are so tender and delicious. You can't go wrong but make sure you get there before 10 am or the pickings...
