Chopsticks Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Water Valley

We've eaten here several times, and never really liked it, but keep coming back because we like Chinese and eating locally. Family that owns it seems nice, and the service has always been quick and friendly - but the food really is quite bad. I could overlook this, and usually do, when I'm hankering for some Chinese. However, last night we got the sesame chicken and some kind of peanut chicken dish and my wife and I both became violently ill in the night, and we've both been up with diarrhea and puking. I have a pretty strong stomach, so this was definitely some bad stuff we were served. In retrospect, the sesame chicken was probably not fresh. The sauce had clearly been on the food for some time, as the fried chicken had lost all of its crispiness. I typically would not leave a review like this, even in a bad situation, but my wife is pregnant, and is now worried for the health of the baby, and so we'll be contacting our doctor. I think that food poisoning really can be a serious issue, and as someone who's worked extensively in the food industry, if you're not staying on top of food freshness, it can easily get away from you. I hope they fix this and get on track with some decent food that doesn't taste like it's straight off the Sysco truck, but this will definitely be our last go around. The food is amazing! 1st time pickup order traveling through Water Valley to Abbeville, the other side of Oxford! I will be driving back to order again and again. The food is that delicious. Best I’ve had in a very long time. I tried the Singapore rice noodle dish, spring rolls and chicken w/black bean sauce. All were amazing! My fav was the Singapore rice noodles. ❤️ The restaurant is very clean and roomy. The front staff is very friendly. The owners came out to answer my questions on the dishes. Thoroughly enjoyed Chopsticks! We got the beef with snow peas dinner special (which comes with rice, egg roll and your entree) and the general chicken dinner special. As well as a side of crab Rangoons, which were seriously amazing. So crispy but soft in the center. It was very good, and only $24 total for the dinner. They made it easy to place a phone in order, it was ready quickly and waiting when we got there. Will definitely be going back!
