M.I.A Restaurant Lounge — Restaurant in Waterbury

I visited M.I.A for the first time with friends for a couple of drinks. The place has a nice atmosphere and a good vibe. We were there for over an hour when it wasn’t too busy, and we had no issues. However, as the place started filling up, a staff member walking around with an iPad informed us that hats weren’t allowed in the establishment.

While I understand that businesses have their own rules, it felt inconsistent that wearing a hat was fine when the place was slow, but once it got busy, we were suddenly asked to leave because of it. If there’s a dress code, it should be communicated clearly at the door to avoid confusion and inconvenience.

Dined here last night with a group of friends for a birthday. Parking is terrible, parking lot is small so better to make reservations before 9pm. Atmosphere is excellent and music is excellent. Water, and drinks took way too long to get to the table. Appetizers came out the same time as the entrees( which I thought was odd) and also took a long time to arrive to the table. The waitress messed up on two orders which one of them was mine and it took sooo long to remake, that by the time it arrived everyone else had finished eating. By that time, I lost my appetite and took it to go. Atmosphere and Food is A+ but the service ( the time it takes food and drinks to arrive at your table) is a D- . My reasoning for the 1 star in service is because our table was forgotten. Entrees were brought out before appetizers and when I ordered a beer the waitress never brought it to my table, I had to go to the bar to order another drink before I finished my food. Our entrees were already cooked and served before our appetizers, they brought it back and when returned they gave me the same plate and my food wasn't hot it was barely warm I felt rushed and forgotten I spent $200 dollars I thought service was going to be better.
