Recently we ate at Muyuri and had the Indian buffet at 12.95. The buffet hours are from 11:30-3. We arrived there about 12:30. By about 1:15 the buffet entree chicken tikka masala was empty. I waited and waited for the serving dish to be refilled. I asked the proprietor twice about more chicken tikka masala and his answer both times was that "it is being cooked". The serving dish was NEVER refilled. This is terrible terrible service. We were there for a very long time. There were not many customers in the place so I think that they just wanted the people to finish whatever was out. This is not proper restaurant keeping. This is not how buffets work. This is the second time that I have had a bad experience at Muyuri. A few months ago I ordered Shrimp Tikka Masala off the dinner menu for lunch at 16.95. What I was served was unimaginable. Five tiny shrimp came in a bowl of sauce. The shrimp were the size of what you'd get in an order of chinese shrimp fried rice! They were honestly no larger than one inch! What I will say though is that the restaurant is VERY clean and the food is good but if they want to keep customers they had better be a little more generous and give customers a fair deal. 16.95 for 5 TINY shrimp? No refills at the buffet? It might also help for them to understand the language. Sorry, but this is it for me. Too bad for them because I love Indian food and as a local establishment they would be getting a lot of business from me and people that I know. The potential is there but sadly they don't know how to use it. This is an HONEST review so stop trying to delete it. Stop trying to only post good reviews. The truth is the truth and I didn't appreciate being RIPPED OFF twice , lied to and leaving hungry. As a footnote: I am sorry that I just didn't walk out of Muyuri, however, I did not want to embarrass my lunch companions at the time. Readers might also be aware that two reviews on this site are exactly the same but with two different names!!
Why are the owners asking me not to repost my review if they are saying that they are not deleting it?? Being that reviews are welcomed I am simply sharing my truthful experience. **It's more like you don't want potential customers to know the truth and you absolutely know my post is the truth that's exactly why you keep deleting it. It's "annoying" also to not get what one...
Read moreFirst off, I have to say that this is the most friendly Indian restaurant that we have ever ordered from. From the moment we first called to picking up our food, they were very kind. We started out by calling and asking the young man who answered the phone, dietary questions. He was extremely helpful and informative. When we picked up our food, the gentleman who rang us up was just as pleasant as the first. I have to give this restaurant 5 stars for their customer service.
As for the food. I have to say, I was a little disappointed. Let me start with the good. The Samosas were on point. They were probably one of the best tasting samosas we have had in a long time and they didn’t disappoint with sending the tamarind, cilantro mint sauce and onions (the chutneys) with it. It was our first time having Roti from an Indian restaurant. It wasn’t bad. It took the place of the usual naan that we would get. When it came to our main dishes, I have to say, we didn’t enjoy the Aloo Jeera at all. Even though the menu says that it is potatoes in a sauce with mushrooms, chickpeas and/or green peas, as you can see in our picture, it wasn’t made with anything else. Essentially, we got potatoes is sauce. That is it. This was our dinner!! Potatoes, that’s it??? Not only that, we weren’t thrilled with the taste of it either. We weren’t happy about that. The Baigan Bharta was decent. It was definitely the better of the two dishes. We’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants. We love Indian food. We gave Muyuri a 3 because their service was top notch but we felt the food was lacking. I really wanted to love it and have this as a spot that we rave about, but like usual, I had...
Read moreMuyuri Indian Bistro is one of the best Indian restaurants in the state presently.
Found this little gem by pure chance. Attended an event in Waterbury and one of my family members ordered take out from here. It looked great so made a mental note to come back.
First time here was blown away. Here's why:
Decor It is decorated in a tasteful elegant way while still maintaining a casual theme. This immediately puts you at ease and in the right frame to enjoy the experience.
Service The people here are super nice. It is a small place so when you come in you may not be greeting as the staff might be in the back fetching meals. In cases like that, we usually just come in and sit down and wave to them when they come back.
Prices and Quality This is fairly priced, perhaps slightly higher than others but well deserved as the quality is much better than most others.
Food The food is very good. We typically order several dishes as we come in a group. Most of the dishes come out excellent and from time to time one dish may fall short but overall it has always been an outstanding experience.
Lamb Saag One of the best in Connecticut. Only one Indian restaurant has matched or exceeded this offering and that restaurant is long gone. This is the best Saag in the state.
Veggie Samosa Tasty, nice flaky crust.
Naan Oh my ...perfectly crispy and soft and chewy at the same time. Excellent! We get the rosemary, regular, peshwari
Goat Biryani Delicious - 'nuff said
Salmon Tandoor Absolutely amazing! this is a dry dish (no sauce) so we typically get it as a complement to a sauce dish.
Love this place...We drive over 40 minutes to go here any...
