Nyc Express Gyros — Restaurant in Waterbury

Delicious! We got the chicken gyro, a chicken and a lamb over rice, and some wings. I grew up on the Halal Guys on 53rd and 6th way back when it was like five, six bucks for a combo platter, so seeing this restaurant really made me happy. I was excited to try this out.

I ordered the wings for my dad, who did like them even though they weren’t exactly Buffalo wings. They were cooked perfectly with maybe a spicy rub. Outside was crispy and inside was tender and juicy. Would have been satisfied even if we got just the wings.

The gyro that my partner had was delicious. Enough sauce and vegetables and meat to make it somewhat messy to eat, but I’ve never eaten a gyro without getting some all over the place. She said she didn’t want too much, but ended up finishing the whole thing.

The rice platters looked just like the platters that the Halal carts would sell in NY. It would have been perfect if I had some pita on the side, but I’ll order that next time. The white sauce was good and the hot sauce was spicy. I’m ordering extra of both sauces on the side next time… I love my platters drowning in red sauce. We forgot to take a picture of the food but we will next time, as there definitely will be a next time.

I'm from NYC now I live here in Waterbury. At first, I was hesitant to visit because didn't want to be disappointed so I told my wife to get it for me, and after that, I had it back to back, lol. WOW!!!! Ok First I live in bunker hill area. I must have driven past this place a zillion times! Today I was looking for a lunch spot. Boy am I Not mad!! I went for the lamb gyro then chickened out .
