So, perhaps this is common in VT - full disclosure, I am from the south. And perhaps I have too high of expectations or something. I ordered the House Charcuterie and I was expecting (at least) - smoked meats, some pieces of cheese, maybe nut or dried fruit, and maybe a pepper or pickled - it ... It was $16 dollars and came with a row of smoked meats, about 4~ prosciutto sized pieces and a handful of rockets, about 4-5 pieces of mushrooms, and dressed in a oil with some crunchy bits..... That's it. Not even some freaking Vermont Cheese???? The menu said Seasonal Accompaniments, but that usually means like different types not just ... A 16 dollar side salad with a pinch or smoked meats ?????
The only thing that saved it was the pulled pork sandwich (which doesn't come with a side - but they communicated that) was exceptional for being in freaking Vermont. The barbeque sauce definitely helped close that gap. Also they leave a water bottle on the table for refills. The service was decent. Even though another service had a table order the Charcuterie Board aaaaand talked to her manager about not serving it because of the portions and subbed it for wings and dip!! Uh, where was my server at for this ? Also they did not communicating everything when you advise you've never been there before and they are loud as eff and should invest in some...
Read moreWhat a rip off. A burger doesn't even come with fries (or anything!), so to get a very tiny smashburger and fries it would have been $26. My partner got the bougie blue burger at $17, to add duck fat fries would have been $9. He said it was tasty, but the beef patty was ridiculously thin. (This smashburger fad just seems like a way to cut corners...I just want a burger that can be pink in the middle.) My pork sandwich ($15) was very mediocre, and again, doesn't come with anything except some cole slaw on it. I got baked beans from the sides menu for $7, and they were also just ok, and only enough for one person, despite what we were told. The sides sounded good, but you know how real BBQ restaurants have a sandwich option for less, and a more expensive platter where you get to pick a couple sides? Not here. Every side is extra. The $20+ platter options only come with cole slaw. Lame. Servers were nice, but when we were brought the wrong burger she asked if he wanted any snacks while he waited, as I already had my food, but it wasn't clear if she meant on the house or if we would be paying for these snacks, so he said no. Some comp fries would...
Read moreThe food was good overall but not enough to reach 5 stars in my opinion especially given the price. The smoked fish dip itself was tasty and had a smoky yet very delicate and balanced flavour. They served some factory made crackers with it which was a but disappointing. I’d rather love to have something closer to warm cornbread (even if not made in house) than just off the shelf crackers. The shopped pork burger was a bit underwhelming - it lacked sauce and the pork itself was quite dry. It was not too bad but you expect much more from a place specialising on meat. We had to wait for the half rack of ribs for almost an hour since it wasn’t ready at the restaurant opening time. The portion size was small (the ribs themselves were small also), the ribs were good overall even though I like them a bit fattier / more tender. The beer was just okay and nothing more even though it tasted fresh. I wouldn’t buy this beer in a shop. The staff were fine even though our server was a bit too talkative. Overall I would rate the place much higher if the prices were more reasonable but given the price and them specialising on meat I...
