We learned about Sultan's Turkish Restaurant online but had no idea they had a market attached. I'd never seen 90% of these products before! Happy surprise!
The food and service here far surpassed our expectations. We went very late but within 90 minutes of their closing. The restaurant was mostly empty but there was a large family of 10 at one end, another couple in addition to us and bear the end of our meal two men came in for baklava and Turkish coffee. All the patrons other than us were Turkish according to our server.
Our server was outstanding, he gave us excellent suggestions, we had THE BEST time here! The plate of cold dips was a revelation - neither of us will forget the hot pepper and walnut dip or the carrot dip of all things! It also had labneh which is one of my favorite dishes of all, never mind that dairy and I aren't friends and I'll suffer for this indulgence! The menu named the dips as hummus, babaganush, haydari, soslu patlican, antep ezme, havuc tarator.
The Turkish bread was hot, crispy on top and perfect in ever way. The feta and parsley sigara borek was so much more than the sum of it's parts. It's basically a fried phyllo roll filled with feta and parsley and served with labneh. We also had a mixed grill plate of chicken shish, lamb shish, kofte, adana, and doner with onions, grated carrot, red cabbage, white rice with vermicelli, and bulgur rice.
The only disappointment was the lady who makes the manti, Turkish dumplings, was on vacation! And yes, we ordered the baklava, and also sekerpare which is an almond based pastry dipped in thick lemon flavored sugar syrup.
We also had Turkish beer and seltzer water. The decor was lovely, we heard they have a belly dancer on Saturday night, and there were huge murals of Istanbul on the wall. All I could think of was going to Cappadocia some day, it's on my bucket list. If you're not familiar with it, please check google images. I can't imagine the food being any better than we experienced tonight. Many thanks to the Sultan's family of...
Read moreI had literally driven by this place hundreds of times, and hundreds of times said "I'd like to eat there sometime". So...I have this issue with procrastination, anyway.
Finally went to O Holey Yelp and was instantly taken aback but the sheer number of good reviews. I mean, I figured people would be talking, but was surprised at the out pouring of love. So, that sealed the deal...my fragile digestive system and I were going to try Turkish Food!
The little ladies and I went early-ish on a Saturday night, around 5:30, so it was pretty wide open. Were greeted at the door (which is the one to the left, don't be a dork like me and try to walk into the door facing the parking lot, it's an emergency exit) and seated in a nice comfortable booth. I have to say, one of the best things here is how awesome the staff is. Not just as far as attentiveness goes, but also in explaining menu items that, for a first timer, can be a challenge to comprehend. I was already set on the Cold Appetizer (thank you Yelp) and the Mixed Grill (thank you again Yelp). Ladies decided on a Chicken Kebab and Lamb Chops.
Let just say...that cold appetizer comes straight from God's kitchen. You could dip just about anything into any of those dips, and it would taste like rainbows. It's a must. Mixed grill was just about as perfect as I was hoping. Lots of flavors, meats cooked perfectly, great seasoning...and plenty of leftovers! Hidden gem for us was the lamb chops. They weren't like the larger, Greek chops we were used to, they were like dainty, smurf sized chops. Delicate, delicious, and perfectly cooked. This place is a MUST if you're in the area and interested.
Quick tip: If you order the Turkish coffee, do NOT stir up the stuff at the bottom with the little spoon they give you. If you do that, you'll end up with all kinds of coffee turd in your teeth and your family and the staff will have a laugh at your expense. That didn't happen to me, I'm just saying,...
Read moreToday I had the pleasure of dining at this Sultan’s wonderful Turkish restaurant, and I must say that I was blown away by the quality of the food and the exceptional service provided by the staff. From the moment I walked in the door, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality, and the experience only got better from there.
Let's start with the food. I tried the lamb shish and it was absolutely delicious, and it was clear that the chefs take great pride in using only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients. From the savory kebabs to the fluffy, perfectly-cooked rice and the mouth-watering Kunefe. I also appreciated the diverse range of options on the menu, catering to a variety of dietary restrictions and preferences.
But it wasn't just the food that made my experience so memorable - it was also the outstanding service provided by the staff. There were two young and energetic boy and a girl (should have asked for their names!) who were attentive and friendly, always checking in! I truly felt like a valued guest, and it was clear that the staff takes pride in creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for everyone who walks through their doors.
All in all, I would highly recommend this Sultan’s restaurant to anyone looking for a truly exceptional dining experience. With delicious food, outstanding service, and a warm and inviting atmosphere, it's the perfect place for a special occasion or a night out with friends and family. Thank you to the staff for a truly wonderful evening - I can't wait...
