We learned about Sultan's Turkish Restaurant online but had no idea they had a market attached. I'd never seen 90% of these products before! Happy surprise! The food and service here far surpassed our expectations. We went very late but within 90 minutes of their closing. The restaurant was mostly empty but there was a large family of 10 at one end, another couple in addition to us and bear the end of our meal two men came in for baklava and Turkish coffee. All the patrons other than us were Turkish according to our server. Our server was outstanding, he gave us excellent suggestions, we had THE BEST time here! The plate of cold dips was a revelation - neither of us will forget the hot pepper and walnut dip or the carrot dip of all things! It also had labneh which is one of my favorite dishes of all, never mind that dairy and I aren't friends and I'll suffer for this indulgence! The menu named the dips as hummus, babaganush, haydari, soslu patlican, antep ezme, havuc tarator. The Turkish bread was hot, crispy on top and perfect in ever way. The feta and parsley sigara borek was so much more than the sum of it's parts. It's basically a fried phyllo roll filled with feta and parsley and served with labneh. We also had a mixed grill plate of chicken shish, lamb shish, kofte, adana, and doner with onions, grated carrot, red cabbage, white rice with vermicelli, and bulgur rice. The only disappointment was the lady who makes the manti, Turkish dumplings, was on vacation! And yes, we ordered the baklava, and also sekerpare which is an almond based pastry dipped in thick lemon flavored sugar syrup. We also had Turkish beer and seltzer water. The decor was lovely, we heard they have a belly dancer on Saturday night, and there were huge murals of Istanbul on the wall. All I could think of was going to Cappadocia some day, it's on my bucket list. If you're not familiar with it, please check google images. I can't imagine the food being any better than we experienced tonight. Many thanks to the Sultan's family of employees! Mo

This was my first time at Sultans. It's been there for years. Always saw the sign on the highway but never thought of going in . Today we had a work meeting and this was our spot to meet for lunch. It's beautiful inside. We were greeted by 2 welcoming gentlemen. Very nice! Explained anything we had questions on, came to Our table multiple times with water, and started the table off with warm bread and butter! Menu is old and many choices to choose from. There are appetizers . Salads, kebabs and main dishes. There isn’t a lunch menu and the All You Can Eat Buffet is in the Evenings only . There are many Vegan And Gluten-free options available to choose from. I ordered Chicken Shish and Lamb Shish! Chicken was cooked to Perfection. Juicy, flavorful, and tender. Lamb was shaved so it was thinner . It needed sauce. I added the tzatziki sauce on it ( or similar sauce used) and it was perfect. Came with side of salad. It definitely was filling. I definitely would go back and try another dish. It's good to go with a group of friends or family to try different dishes and share apps. Great place!

Sultan's will delight you in every way. It is right off the 84 westbound highway and is easily overlooked. Stop your car and go fill your belly with amazing tastes of Turkish food. Do not drive past. Go inside and meet the lovely owners and prepare to stuff yourself. We will even travel 45 mins just to enjoy a meal at Sultan's. The service is exceptional with the wait staff so attentive and helpful throughout your meal. They make wonderful suggestions but you cannot go wrong with whatever you order. It is an explosion of flavor. Family favorites of ours are the falafel, babaghanoush, and yummy yogurt dishes. The meat grill plate gives you a chance to taste a little of everything. We always end up ordering numerous grape leaves since they are superb. My only complaint is we eat so much of the apps and entrees we have to take the deserts home. And they are to die for! The Turkish teas and coffees are heavenly. You will be back again and again. Reservations are a good idea on weekends.

I have never had Turkish food and I regret it. This place is a hidden gem. If you are traveling thru Waterbury this should be a food stop on your trip. Walking in you will feel like you walked in to the Middle East with the decor and the environment. The service is exceptional, they make you feel at home since you walk in. The server was attentive and answered any questions that we had about the menu. The Food was excellent we had the small mix cold appetizer, one of the samples was havuc tarator. A dish made with carrots, WOW this was great creamy and full of flavor you done even know that your eating carrots. We also tried the falafel, they were crispy on the outside and soft and tasty on the inside. The other appetizer we had was the sigara borek with feta and parsley, the cheese was melted in every bite. For dinner we ordered the meat sampler, my favorite meat was the lamb. It was tender and flavorful. This was my first time at this place but definitely not the last.

I recently went to Sultan in Connecticut and tried their mixed chicken grill, it was amazing! Definitely a 10/10 for me. The chicken skewers , chicken Adana and thigh piece were all cooked perfectly – super juicy and packed with so much flavor. The sides were just as good. The rice was light and fluffy, and the bulgur had this great texture and taste. The vegetables were so fresh and delicious. The pickled cabbage added a nice tangy crunch, and the onions were crisp and paired really well with everything else. The yogurt sauce - creamy and refreshing, it brought the whole dish together. The service here is also fantastic – super fast and so kind. Everyone was friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. This is hands down the #1 Turkish spot, and honestly, probably the only Turkish restaurant I know of that reminds me of real Turkish food. It’s authentic, fresh, and full of flavor, just like it should be.

We tried this place for the first time, was really excited to see that they had belly dancing but I guess that’s only on Saturday evenings. Anyways was also excited to try Turkish food for the first time. Overall a great experience. Loved the Turkish tea. We ordered the vegetarian borek as the appetizer which was great, and mixed grill platter as the entree which had Chicken shish, lamb shish, kofte, adana and doner. We didn’t quite like the doner and found it to be dry but other than this, everything else was really good. We then tried 4 types of desserts (3 were to-go), kunefe which was excellent, baklava which was excellent, sutlac which was okay and revani which was excellent. Don’t forget to check out the sweet box by the door which has a lot more different types of baklavas looked like. These items weren’t there on the menu so I wish it was there too so we could order it at the table too.
