Who needs Disney when you can have family bonding day at Jay Makes Holes? Screw roller coasters, we went for piercings! Between me, my husband, and our two daughters, Jay and his apprentice had their hands full (literally). Medusa and septum for me, hubby went bold with the nips, our oldest rocked a vertical labret, and the youngest joined the septum club. It was basically a piercing marathon and Jay didn’t even break a sweat.
From the second we walked in, Jay and his apprentice made us feel completely at ease. They took their time with each of us, explained everything, and made sure we were comfortable (and laughing) the whole way through. Even though it was A LOT of piercings in one sitting, nothing ever felt rushed, just careful, professional, and actually fun. But as fun as Jay was, his professionalism really stood out. Each piercing was done with precision, patience and care. The way he explained each step to his apprentice really showed how much experience and knowledge he has. Everything was spotless, fully sterilized, and he changed gloves between every step. It was clear how seriously he takes his craft, which made us feel 100% confident and safe.
Not only are they seriously skilled (he has 25+ years of experience!) but they easily turned a room full of nerves and needles into one of the best family adventures we’ve had. We left grinning, pierced, and already planning what to get done next.
If you want amazing work, a chill vibe, and a piercer who treats you like family, Jay Makes Holes is the place. 10/10 would recommend (and we’re already living proof that he can handle a whole family piercing party!). Also, the artwork he has for sale is INCREDIBLE! Find Ghost #1 and Ghost #2 while you’re waiting, some of the most detailed drawings...
Read moreme and my friend came to jay makes holes for the first time several months ago, and let me just say, we will definitely not be returning. there were several concerning parts of our experience that left us feeling very uncomfortable and with doubt about the quality of our piercings. within a month of getting them, both of ours fell out and one led to turning the jewelry green (which had to get replaced by another piercer). when we first entered in jay makes holes, we were proceeded to go to the back to wait for jay. the environment seemed unprofessional due to a puddle on the floor from the ac leaking, a tattered piercing chair, and questionable sanitizing equipment that was missing a leg and was lopsided. it was making very strange noises, and at this point, my friend and i were wondering if we should leave or not, but we decided to stay. when we were talking to jay, he seemed very dismissive and rude when trying to start small talk with him. he even slapped my hand away when trying to move my hair, since I was attempting to show him where I want my piercing. with all of this being said, we have no interest in coming back to jay makes holes. this was honestly just a snippet of our experience, but sums up the main parts with what happened. truly disappointed because google has such great reviews raving about this place; however, we couldn’t be one of...
Read moreThis place is the absolute BEST!!! Do not hesitate to get a piercing here—it is clean, affordable & has a great selection of jewelry. I drove from Guilford and it was definitely worth it. Got conch & helix piercings the other day (see pic) and I couldn’t have had a better experience. Absolutely 100% clean and hygienic—which I normally blindly trust but last time I got a piercing at a diff place it got infected so I’m pretty picky now about the hygiene practices of places like this. Also Jay was awesome—very patient, explained everything, totally dedicated to customer service—even changed the color of the jewelry he put in me so it matched the gold of my other earrings.
Jay Makes Holes is also a retail store called Cult Zenith with incredibly cool art and other things for sale. Ended up buying two prints (see pics) & I will be buying more. Love the aesthetic and everything about this local business. ❤️ I will...
