The Meating Place Outdoor Eatery, LLC — Restaurant in Waterbury

I wanted to love this little food truck so bad. I live about a minute up the road and drive past it daily. Made a mental note to self to give them a try when I was in the mood for “fast food” so that I can support a local, small business. We ordered a wide variety of menu items and nothing was spectacular. The burgers were just ok, the fries were mushy as can be and barely warm. I’m thinking they may have been precooked for a while. The onion rings were mediocre, the hot dog was ok but the chili was flavorless. Even the kids didn’t enjoy their food. I see a lot of 5 star reviews so maybe it was an off day but with that said, I never really see anyone there. Often times the owners are sitting at the tables waiting for business and can’t help but think some of the reviews may be from friends or family. I’m certainly not trying to bash the business but you need food that’s going to keep people coming back. It’s easy to get a customer that’s driving by but you need to make them want to come back. Nice little spot for when you have those backyard grill ballpark food cravings!

Their menu is limited, but sometimes I prefer that. I had the single smash burger with cheese, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, and mayo along with regular fries (they have steak fries, which are not my favorite type of fry, so I had my fingers crossed for it to be good.) All the items seemed fresh and had great quality. The food had the perfect amount of grease to it which helps add to the flavor and feeling of this type of food, but not overwhelming with grease. They give you nice cup of ketchup to dip your fries in and I did enjoy the fries (slight crips on the outside, fluffy on the inside, just how a steak fry should be).

The owners are very friendly and a joy to talk to while you wait for your food. The service was helpful and quick. I would be happy to go back and try their other sandwiches and hot dog.

Prices are reasonable and this is a much better place to stop instead of those fast food chain restaurant. Good food, good company, and good price, so if you have that I need a burger...

Amazing people, and an incredible menu. Got a to go order from them yesterday, and HIGHLY recommend this spot. Great outside dining area, and they do things for kids and families like back to school movie nights.

They were such great people and got the food out so fast with amazing quality I had no choice but to go into my pocket and give them a $20 tip. They were so grateful and happy for the tip they almost seemed like they couldn’t believe it. They ended up giving me a bunch of free drinks and bags of chips.

My family will definitely keep coming here until the day they don’t open anymore. Do yourself a favor and check them out. Thank you guys again for the great...
