Slice of the Bronx? More Like a Slice of Regret
As a food critic, I approach every restaurant with an open mind and an empty stomach. Unfortunately, Slice of the Bronx left me with nothing but a bad taste in my mouth—and not from the food, but the experience as a whole.
Let’s start with the conditions. The place was dirty—not just a little cluttered, but truly unsanitary. I witnessed wings being stored on a rack barely inches off the floor. While technically not touching the ground, that’s far from food-safe and absolutely unacceptable. If that’s what they’re doing in plain sight, I shudder to think about what goes on behind closed doors.
Now the pizza. You’d think a place that dares to name itself after the Bronx—home to some of the best pizza in the country—would at least know how to cook one properly. Think again. The dough was unevenly cooked and burnt, the sauce was bland, and the cheese had that telltale greasy stretch that screams cheap ingredients. I’ve had better pizza at a gas station.
But perhaps the worst part of all? The way the owners treat their staff. I saw employees being barked at and berated right in front of customers. The tension in the room was palpable, and it was clear that morale among the staff is at rock bottom. No one deserves to be treated that way—least of all the people making your food.
In a city full of amazing pizza joints, Slice of the Bronx is a cautionary tale of how not to run a restaurant. Skip it. Your stomach—and your...
Read moreI really hate leaving bad reviews, but in this case, I ordered from here BECAUSE of the reviews, and I don't want people to keep trusting what they read. The name of this restaurant also leads you to believe that this is Bronx-like pizza. But having been raised on the greatest apizzas by my Sicilian Grandma and my Abruzzese Grandpa, AND going to college in Long Island with relatives in Yonkers, I may not be the world's leading authority on pizza, (and I've eaten pizza all over Italy btw), but I come with a discerning, credible palate.
This pizza, this SAUCE, is not only flavorless, but it's thick and chunky and very acidic: it's really, really, grotesque. So look at the pictures I posted on Yelp: some things do NOT have sauce, and yet those items either had absolutely NO flavor (very little garlic with teeny tiny shrimp on a Scampi pizza; they should have called it Shrimp Skimpi pizza), were cooked improperly, or just plain tasted disgusting.
In conclusion, just please consider that, in this area, we have tons of options when it comes to pizza, several of them great. Do yourself a favor and do NOT waste your hard earned dollars on this place. I ordered delivery, it was delivered quickly, and that made it convenient. Now I feel sick, and I feel guilty for cheating on my go to pizza place. ...
Read moreI seriously dont know why people have nothing better to do but to go on google and write stupid reviews on things they know nothing about. This business has been in "business" for years BECAUSE of the great pizza and wide variety of food's they have with authentic italian, "Hits home" taste. Granted I wish they were cheaper, but not once has the staff been rude to me. They made a mistake once with a new worker who told me the wrong price on something but they accommodated me, with a order of free garlic gnots (Best garlic knots around btw!). I order from this place tons of times through out the year and 99.9% of the time I have no complaint about this place aside from price. But for good food, and prompt delivery, its worth it. You want better food you have to pay thats just how it is. I have no qualms, this is a real authentic customer. Not some scrub wanting to just demeanor the restaurant or even to hype it up, I am giving an honest opinion here. I would suggest this place any day of the week if your looking for pizza, all these other people putting complaint's either A) Sound Butthurt over nothing or B) Don't know what good food...
